Re: -ian names

Vivian - there's nothing wrong with it, but I don't like it much with this spelling. It seems too old-fashioned for boys, and less attractive than Vivien, Viviane or Vivienne for girls
Adrian - loathe for personal reasons
Cyprian - interesting but not very appealing; also not sure if it's Sip or Kip
Caspian - nmsaa
Marian - I like it, but prefer Marion.
Dorian - it's okay; nicer irl than on paper
Ian - it's okay, but it's very dated here, and not a sound that appeals much
Florian - too florid for me
Lucian - okay, but ambiguous pronunciation problems
Fabian - like for personal reasons, not sure I would if I didn't have them. The one I know is often called Fay, which is fun on a bearded bloke
Hadrian - like it better than Adrian. It's sturdy. Like a wall. :)
Vespasian - can't imagine this in use! Vespy would be a funny nn
Sebastian - although I know decent Sebastians it still sounds vaguely prissy to me
Julian - nice friendly name
Finnian - makes me think of haddock
Ninian - kind of like it, but ninny.
Some others I like: Charmian, Gillian, Kilian (this French spelling only) and Gwenllian
