-ian names

I tend to like -ian names.
I love Caspian, Dorian, Ian, Lucian, Sebastian, Finnian, and Killian. Some of those I like, but I associate them with the feminine forms and like them better for that Adrienne, Vivienne/Vivian, and Julianne.
With Ninian, I immediately think of "ninny," so despite liking the sound, I don't like that it's so easy to get an insult out of it.

I would like being a Vespasian, but I don't think I could name a kid that (shortens to Spacy / Vespa, plus I read somewhere that vespasiano was a term for urinals).
I like Vivian a lot for women; I could happily be a Vivian, and I wouldn't mind using it, although I might like Viviana slightly more. For guys, I'd prefer Vivaan.
I hear "aw, look at the little bean" when I see Fabian. o_O ...the meaning's cute but too twee, maybe? I like it for other people because I like the Fay sound in names.
I don't love the sound/meaning/vibe of: Adrian, Cyprian, Caspian, Hadrian.
Ian's painfully dull. It's plain like John but trying not to be.
Florian and Lucian seem either European or foppish. I don't dislike them, but I feel no connection to them.
Julian and Sebastian seem popular lately. I don't mind them, but I don't like Jules or Seb as NNs.
Finnian's okay but seems fussy. I'd rather see just Finn or Fionn.
I kind of like Ninian, because I like Nin in general, but it also seems fussy.
I like Dorian. He seems chill. I get a similar vibe from Marian but maybe more serious, and I'd be afraid people would mispronounce it (I only like it as MAR-yan).
All of them seem masculine to me except for Vivian, although I don't think they'd be that weird used as feminine, except for Sebastian.
Others I like are Cassian, Octavian, and to a lesser degree, Elian, Damian, Cillian, Brian, Bastian, Maximilian, Charmian, and Gwenllian.

My favourites are Sebastian and Caspian. I'm fond of Julian, Finnian and Lucian, as well.
Vivian - I like Vivian/Vivien for boys, and Vivienne/Viviane for girls.
Marian - I much prefer Marion.
Adrian and Ian - Likeable, albeit a little dated. I have an uncle Ian, and I find the name more refreshing than John. I would like to hear them both more often.
The following give me the illusion of grandeur and I struggle somewhat to imagine them on real people, although I think most of them are usable. They'd work well for characters. Hadrian interests me the most.
Cyprian
Dorian
Florian
Fabian
Hadrian
Vespasian
Ninian - Seems a bit wimpy, especially when compared to the others, and "ninny" isn't the greatest of nicknames.
I also like: Cassian, Damian, Maximillian (it's so fun to say!), Octavian, Cillian (with this spelling) and Jillian (with this spelling).

Vivian - I like it. It's very firm and forceful. I like it on either gender. I prefer it spelled Vivien for a girl/woman though.
Adrian - I like it (boy). A favorite. Handsome but never a fop.
Cyprian - It's theoretical as a name, to me, as I've never heard of anyone named it. I knew a guy who was called the Cyprian as a nickname among his friends, because he was literally from Cyprus.
Caspian - I like it alright, and sort of wish it were more of a name and not just a location
Marian - dated but likeable. either gender but I would expect F
Dorian - nms somehow. I normally like these sounds but Dorian seems so bland to me.
Ian - I like it. It's gotten sort of generic.
Florian - too flowery for my taste as a guy name, but I think it'd make a good name for women.
Lucian - I sort of like it prn Lu-shun, and even then, I'm ambivalent.
Fabian - fayb / fab / fob sound is unappealing to me.
Hadrian - not as cool as Adrian but ok
Vespasian - is just the one guy. As a baby name it's like Poseidon or Hannibal or something, ott.
Sebastian - it's ok. Nms but I think it's pretty nice. Don't like any of the nicks, though.
Julian - I like it. A favorite. M
Finnian - nmsaa.
Ninian - eccentric and kinda cool but "ninny" bothers me. F
others that come to mind easily, I'm not in love with any
Gratian
Aurelian
Valerian
Christian
Sylvian
Cillian / Killian
Rillian / Rilian
Maximilian
Gillian
Rhydian
Damian

I don't know if this helps, but I always think of this name as coming from yes, the name of the sea, but also coming from the name of the caspia plant (also called "limonium").
And the name of the sea and the name of the plant have nothing to do with one another so that gives it more substance, I think.
Oh, it's sea-lavender. That neutralizes my dislike of it, at least.
Okay, let's see...
Vivian -I love this. A LOT. For a boy. (Vivienne / Viviana for a girl.)
Adrian -Like, but don't love. Seems like the nerdy type and all business.
Cyprian -I love this and I love Ciprian (I bring the alternate spelling up because pronunciation is quite different.)
Caspian -I love the Narnia character. And I've always thought the sea had a lovely name. I'm into it. My sister intends to use it for a child one day if she has a son.
Marian -I love this for a boy. I don't mind it for a girl, but the Romanian pronunciation of Marian is so gorgeous to my ears and they use it as a male name so that's my jam now.
Dorian -The other name my sister intends to use for a son. She has wanted Dorian and Caspian for 10+ years now.
Ian -It's okay. I don't hate it. I know a lovely Ian. But I also would never
Florian -Lovely and I adore it.
Lucian -Like it as LOO-see-an, but hate it as LOO-shen. The "loosh" sound just sounds really stupid to my ears.
Fabian -I don't like it this, but I assume it's just because I think of bean farmers and Fabio. Bean farmers that look like Fabio? Idk. It's not my thing more because of association than because of sound. Maybe if I ever met a Fabian in real life, it would change my opinion.
Hadrian -I love the sound of this, but as someone with a strong Celtic heritage, I wouldn't use it because it seems disrespectful to those ancestors.
Vespasian -Cool in theory. Like one of those cool-for-a-fantasy-novel kind of names. Like it was made up for The Chronicles of Narnia or something instead of actual real life use.
Vivian -I love this. A LOT. For a boy. (Vivienne / Viviana for a girl.)

I have a bit of an affinity for boys names ending in -ian. Oddly enough I’m not a big fan of Ian itself, although hearing it on a toddler recently has removed the middle aged feel I get from it. Anyway, as well as Caspian being my favourite name, I have Julian, Fabian, Dorian, and Lucian on my list, plus similar sounding Gideon. I also like Cyprian, Florian, and Sebastian. Finnian and Adrian are okay, Adrian’s a bit boring. Vivian is very stylish sounding, but I just think it’s okay. Hadrian and Vespasian are a bit grand, but I wouldn’t mind hearing them on someone else’s kids. I don’t really like Marian, it blends with Miriam and Mariam and feels flat to me. I don’t like the Nini- sound of Ninian.
Other -ian names:
Lillian
Killian/Cillian
Aurelian
Bastian
Brian
Damian
Christian
Elian / Elyan
Flavian
Maximilian
Octavian
Valerian

I'd use Ian definitely and Adrian probably. I'm also mildly fond of Julian and Sebastian, and I once knew a gorgeous preschooler with blond curls named Dorian - his brothers were Ashley and Mark.
A friend named her son Matthew Florian for ancestral reasons; she says he loves his mn.
I don't think Vivian would be particularly usable, and anyway I prefer Vivien for a girl. I much prefer Marianne to Marian, and Lucienne to Lucian.
I would definitely avoid Cyprian, Caspian, Hadrian in spite of his Wall, Vespasian and especially Finnian and Ninian, neither of which I can take seriously, though I've tried.
ETA: What about Gillian?

Vivian - there's nothing wrong with it, but I don't like it much with this spelling. It seems too old-fashioned for boys, and less attractive than Vivien, Viviane or Vivienne for girls
Adrian - loathe for personal reasons
Cyprian - interesting but not very appealing; also not sure if it's Sip or Kip
Caspian - nmsaa
Marian - I like it, but prefer Marion.
Dorian - it's okay; nicer irl than on paper
Ian - it's okay, but it's very dated here, and not a sound that appeals much
Florian - too florid for me
Lucian - okay, but ambiguous pronunciation problems
Fabian - like for personal reasons, not sure I would if I didn't have them. The one I know is often called Fay, which is fun on a bearded bloke
Hadrian - like it better than Adrian. It's sturdy. Like a wall. :)
Vespasian - can't imagine this in use! Vespy would be a funny nn
Sebastian - although I know decent Sebastians it still sounds vaguely prissy to me
Julian - nice friendly name
Finnian - makes me think of haddock
Ninian - kind of like it, but ninny.
Some others I like: Charmian, Gillian, Kilian (this French spelling only) and Gwenllian
Adrian - loathe for personal reasons
Cyprian - interesting but not very appealing; also not sure if it's Sip or Kip
