I'm sorry your wife hates Sergei. I'm running into similar problems with my DH and names. :o) I do have a compromise in mind, though. The meaning of Sergei appears to be "servant;" would it be possible to give your son another name that means servant? The closest I could come off the top of my head was Stuart / Stewart, since a steward is a specific type of servant. I'm sure if you do some research (and use a thesaurus) you could come up with more possibilities. :o)
