Re: Two questions
I know for certain that Polly was used on slaves and indentured servants in the seventeenth century. So it WAS used. However, many names given to slaves were never used on those who were free.If you want proof from someone other than me, try and find some documents concerning the slave trade in the Americas.Egnul is a surname. I found this in a search just now: "(c.) June 14th, 1782, this is to certify that James Egnul Served as a soldir in my Company commencing may 16 Ending June 14th. Certifide by me." It is taken verbatim from a Revolutinary War muster roll.Egnell. Hmmm... I searched and found your breastpumps and little else. There were lots of ancestral and geneaological sites, but none that I saw contained meanings. But it is a ast name, at least.Sorry I couldn't help.Michelle
