Estella -- A little on the frilly side, but the "Great Expectations" connection gives is an additional boost in my mind. Phoebe -- I used to not like it. It reminded me of a buzzing bee. But it combines so well with other names that I began to come around. I like it now. But I don't love it.Phyllis -- I wish I could like Phyllis, if for no other reason than she is likely to be a wall-flower for most people. But Phyllis makes me think of a filly (if I'm spelling that correctly), a young female horse. I love other "phil" names like Phyllida, Philomena, Philippa.

I love Estella, but dislike Phoebe and Phyllis. The latter two just don't have pleasant sounds to them.

Phyllis: seems very dated to meEstella: very pretty, love the meaning. Better than Estelle though pretty and classic still seems old.Phoebe: love the name, love the meaningPhoebe & Estella would make a great sibset or combo: Phoebe Estella or Estella Phoebe

Estella and Phoebe are lovely. I want to like Phyllis, I really do, but for some reason, I always only think of it as a boys' name. I actually used it on a male character YEARS ago, before I knew it was a female name. It was just so similar to Phillip that I assumed it was male. It's actually a (very) GP name for me on a boy, but I don't really like it on a girl.

Estella - I like it a lot but it sounds lispy when I say it aloud.
Phoebe - I like it, but Phoebe/Chloe/Zoe have become so popular they're starting to sound a little bland and fluffy.
Phyllis - I love it! I'm glad I'm not the only one. It reminds me of madrigals.

I've never met a Phoebe either. But I have met tons of Chloe's and Zoe's. Actually I like all of those names but I don't love them. They just seem very cool. But if I had to use one I would use Phoebe since the other two names are so common.

I like Estella and Phyllis. Phoebe is little boring, but still OK.

Disclosure:My name is Phoebe, so I'm biased and going to say I LOVE it.I'm not sure why people think this is becoming kind of a trendy name... like Chloe and Zoe. I've only ever met two Phoebes in my whole life. One was 82 and the other was 5 months old. It is sort of popular on tv shows. It gets quite a bit of exposure from tv. Like off Friends, Charmed, Hey Arnold and The Magic School Bus. Estella is pretty, but I personally like it best as just Stella. Phyllis reminds me of a nasty 3rd grade teacher I had, so while the sound is okay, it really bothers me.

I love Estella, it sounds beautiful like the name out of an old faerie tale. Phoebe I also like but would never use. I always use to wish I was Japanese when I was younger and alot of asian girls in shows on the tv were named Phoebe, so that's what I always think of when I hear the name Phoebe. And those girls were always brainy and had glasses. More than anything I always imagine a person with the name Phoebe being cute and smart with glasses. Phyllis I've never cared much for but it's not a horrible name. I just feels really dated to me. Also I think of middle age to older secretaries when I hear the name Phyllis. I'm not exactly certain why.
