What do you think of using Eva instead of Evangeline? For the last few years Evangeline "Eva / Evie" has been a favourite of mine but I was reading over lists of names that I wrote when I was about 9 (I was a very cool child :P) and I went through a stage of playing with hypenated versions of Eva. My favourite then was by far Eva-Mai or Eva-May which I still really like. What do you think about Eva- instead of Evangeline?

Eva-Kate
Eva-Lily

I love Eva and Evangeline. Eva is a simpler and less frilly option I think. I dont go for hyphens much, I'd prefer the names seperate.

I do not see why
you couldn't do something like Evangeline Katherine "Eva Kate." If you love both names and one functions as a shorter form of the other, I don't see why using one as a full name and the shorter one as a nickname would present any sort of conflict.
Eva's not my thing, but Eva Kate is nice. Eva May sounds a bit silly and Eva Lily is not comfortable and nameish enough four a double FN IMO.

Well I'm not a fan of Evangeline at all, but Eva is cute. I much prefer Eva. Eva-May, Eva-Kate and Eva-Lily are all nice, but I'd prefer them as fn/mn, rather than double fn.

I avoid hyphenated names at almost all costs. Sure, there's the obscure Biblical name like Kerenhappuch (Keren-Happuch), but it annoys me.
Eva also find a little more free when it comes to MNs:
Eva Catherine
Eva Elizabeth
Eva Joy
Eva Lillian
Eva Rebecca
Hyphenations still annoy me. I'd go with it.

I've never liked Evangeline, but I do love Eve and Eva. I don't like the hyphen though, just Eva May or Eva Kate are perfect. I also don't like Eva paired with an L name like Lily, because they tend to merge and become Evil- ! I can imagine other kids picking up on that.

I'm not a fan of Evangeline or Eva but I slightly prefer Evangeline.
Eva hyphenated is ok. I had a teacher named Eva-Lena once.
Eva-May - I dislike the fact that both names are three letters long. I prefer a longer second name. Maybe Eva-Marie.
Eva-Kate - ok, but dislike
Eva-Lily- cute but don't really like it. Evangeline is better.

I love Eva so much more than Evangeline, it's hard for me to even express. You lose me, though, with the hyphen. Eva May, Eva Katherine, or Eva Lily would all be adorable combos, but the hyphenated double fn is too cutesy and much more downmarket. Despite the fact that I hate Evangeline, I would rather see it than an Eva- name.
