[Opinions] Bartholomew
WDYTO Bartholomew?
I've always considered it more of a GP as opposed to a usable name. I have an image of either a dog or a bat when I think of it, but more recently I've been thinking about it more seriously. I hate the NN Bart, though. Too Bart Simpson.
Is it usable? Or should I just drop this and go with Nathanael?
Thanks in advance for your opinions! :-)

Don't like at all. The sound of the last syllable, MYOO, really puts me off. And I think it would be very difficult to avoid the nickname Bart.
I think Bartholomew is a great name, but I would personally keep it for a mn. I only say that because I don't like the nn Bart either, people will have a hard time spelling it and it's just so long for a fn. Can you imagine having to write that all the time?! I'd stick with Nathaniel as a fn and Bartholomew as a mn.
Love it
Love Bartholomew. I put it in the same category in my mind as Sebastian, Cornelius and Ambrose; long-ish, cool, early Christian names.
I'm not crazy about the nn Bart either. But I knew a Bart before the Simpson character so it doesn't bother me as much. I think it was Array who uses the nn Tolly, which is nice.
there are so many Nathaniels at the moment. We could use a few more Bartholomews. Go for it. :-)

I much prefer Bartholomew to Nathaniel.
and I love the nn Burt for Bartholomew, but Bart does make me a little twitchy.

I'm on the fence about it. I used to hate it, then I loved it, now I'm not sure. I think it's usable. If I did use it, it would probably be as a mn.
ETA: I know a Bart. I always thought his name was Bartholomew nn Bart, but it turns out Bart is his actual first name.

I love it for a MN.
Bartholomew was one of my first favorite names. Back when I was like 7ish I loved it, and I continued to love it until 2-3 years ago. I think it's perfectly usable. I really don't even understand why it's on your GP list because it's totally normal in every sense. I think you could get away with the nn Teddy if you wanted to.
