What do you guys think of Julian (b)? I've never really liked Jul- names for girls (with the exception of Juliet) and have really always thought the name sounded a bit too feminine (and I like boys' names like Stellan and the like), but I watched a tv show the other night where one of the main characters was named Julian, and I liked the way it sounded. So what are your thoughts?

I think Julian is a great name. Sounds very dignified to me.

I love it. I never thought it sounded feminine. It is a name I would like to use, but I don't know if I would get to it.

I love most every Jul-name, for boys and girls, and I don't think it's too feminine at all.

It hovers around my top 10 list most of the time. It has an incredibly classy and handsome vibe to me. :)

LOVE IT!

I have a great uncle by the name of Julian that passed away before I was born and was told all these wonderful stories about him... and I saw a picture of him for the first time a couple of years ago and was so enthralled with him, that I just loved the name. Have suggested it many times to my husband, and he says no way. But I still love it... probably because of my uncle... brings to mind softness, tenderness and sweetness.

I love this name, and I can't figure out why! I named a character this, and I suppose that's where the idea first came to me, but I absolutely love this name. It's survived many purges of my PNL for about a year.

I think it's wonderful! Unlike you I love most all Jul- names, but I too once thought Julian was a little feminine sounding for a boy. Now it just brings to mind a handsome, great guy with a positive attitude.

I don't know if I'd use it though only because I love Julia too much. :-)

I think it's useable and handsome. It's soft, but not feminine. I also like the occassional nickname Jules.

If you're saying the Jul- part is too feminine, then so is Julius. If it's the -an ending then Jayden, Aidan, and Nathan are too feminine. It doesn't make sense to me.

It strikes me as feminine because of the similarity in sound to Julianne.

in my experience, Julian is much more heard of than Julianne. But fair point.

I like it. I know one Julian, about 25, Hispanic.

My husband doesn't care for it. He thinks it sounds feminine. Maybe it reminds him of Jillian/Gillian.

It's one of my favorite boy's names, and if I could think of a really good combo for it, it'd be on my list.
