I actually really like
Marie. It reminds me of "The Nutcracker" which I love (in different versions of it the girl is named either
Clara,
Marie,
Mary,
Maria or
Maria nn
Masha or Mascha). It makes me think of winter which is nice.
I wouldn't use it because I'm French/German and here it is not only THE middle name (even though I believe
Sophie is more common) but also a really common first name.
However in the US I feel it is hardly used as a middle name anymore. I see
Rose and
Grace way more often, I feel
Marie was THE middle name before circa 1990.
I like
Marie as a first name. As a middle name
Rosemarie is also nice. I feel like
Rosemary is not really honoring her because the
Marie is missing.
