[Opinions] Lillian
WDYT? I love this name and the nicknames Lily / Lilly. I intitally wanted to use it, but I discovered that Lillian is a variant of my name Elizabeth, when I saw the page, so I probably wont use it. It's kinda ridiculous. But I want my children to have "their own names." I still love it.I like the idea of Florence and Lillian as sisters.Lillian AmyLillian AliceLillian JoelleLillian JosephineLillian AmandaEve LillianHarper LillianJanie LillianEtta LillianEsme LillianThea LillianSylvie LillianBriar Lillian

Florence and Lillian would be great as sisters. Floral but formal and retro.
ETA: I think Lillian and Elizabeth in the same family would be fine. I primarily think of Lillian as an elaboration of Lily. I like these:
Lillian Alice
Lillian Josephine
Lillian Amanda
Eve Lillian
Esme Lillian
Sylvie Lillian (or Sylvia)
(and I would like Lillian Amy if Amy didn't have the feel that it has)Plus:
Lillian Beatrice
Lillian Jane
Lillian June
Lillian May
Lillian Idony
Lillian Maeve
Lillian Amelie
Lillian Stephanie (but maybe has the same problem as Amy)
Lillian Catherine (for some reason I think Catherine Lillian is too rhymey/matchy, but Lillian Catherine works...?)
Lillian Sidonie
Lillian Christine
Lillian Cecily
Lillian Joan
Miranda Lillian
Amara Lillian
Amaia Lillian
Jessica Lillian
Persephone Lillian
Isolde Lillian
Nessa Lillian
Anne Lillian (including the "eh" sound at the end like in German. I know it's basically Anna but I think the combo looks better this way :P)

I don’t think most people will assume or know that Lillian is a form of Elizabeth! You would definitely be safe to use it and it’s a lovely name, so why not. Lillian Amy, Lillian Alice, Lillian Joelle (so nice to see Joelle get a mention!), Eve Lillian and Esme Lillian are all beautiful. I agree that Florence and Lillian would be gorgeous for sisters, though I’d use Lillian first, then Florence. I like Lillian Eve “Lily” and Esme Florence for sisters, oh wow that would be gorgeous!

Lillian's lovely. It reminds me of a pressed flower.Lillian Amy is my favorite of the combos you listed. I love Amy as a middle name.

Lily is a full name (flower name). Yes, it can also be a nickname but I don't really see the point. Lily is a classic and well established as a full name. It just doesn't really seem necessary. It's like Annabel nn Anna or Ellen nn Ella. You might as well just use Lily, Anna and Ella.Lillian is just a variant of Elizabeth. So is Isabella. You can still use it, they are not too similar and the connection is kind of nice. I personally don't care for Lillian, I always liked Lily much better. Lillian just doesn't sound as nice to me. Also it's on its way out of the charts and is sounding to start dated. Even more so than Lily. The combos are all okay, but none really stick out to me. They are all decent but I would pair Lillian with something a bit more exciting.

I think of it in connection to Lily and not Elizabeth despite knowing the origin, and I think that's common. I feel like folk etymologies can be valid.Lillian is like the quintessential "prim" name to me...not necessarily in a negative way...just, my strongest impression is of someone with a stiff upper lip.
I'd group it with Winifred, Vivian, Irene, Lavinia, Priscilla, Gillian...
Lillian and Florence would be a nice sibset; they both seem very Edwardian yet modern and flowy.I like Eve Lillian, of the combos.

I think Lillian is still usable for you! It's different enough to give a daughter her own name, but still have a family tie. It's perfect. I had a now deceased aunt named Lillian Marie ("Aunt Lil"). And my husband has a niece named Lillian ("Lil or Lily"). I believe she was named for a relative on her mother's side. So it's a name that seems to work for most ages and eras.
