I used to hate it, but I've mellowed on it: maybe because Mateo seems so boring now, and since I feel like Andrew, Matthias, Matilda aren't so bad, it just doesn't stand out as *the most boring name ever* anymore (Ryan in contrast is one that still does).

I think it's alright but only if you're a christian.

I like both but prefer Mathew. The two Ts next to the H always bothered my eyes. I wouldn't use either name because of how common they are.

I prefer the Matthew spelling. I would consider using it, but I have a cousin with the name. Plus I don’t like the nn Matt which feels inevitable.
