[Opinions] Atticus
What are your opinions on the boys name Atticus? I think that it sounds extremely handsome and unique. It does remind me of the words attic and cuss, but I don’t care. I love Kit as a potential nickname as well.Formerly, wheelbarrow4

I know two. One is called Atty and one is just called Atticus. It sounds classic (as in ancient Rome and also as in classic books because of TKAM). I can't imagine a little kid pulling it off but it's the kind of name you'd grow into.
Personally I think Kit is too much of a stretch (it's taking the "tic" part of Atticus and then switching the consonant sounds?) but I would find it interesting if I met one.

I really like Atticus. I have the name opinion as you. It’s really handsome, and unusual. It reminds me of To Kill A Mockingbird, which is fine. It’s less obvious and in your face then Scout. I would actually use Atticus, it’s a nice name.Atticus Rainer
Atticus Julian
Atticus Leo
Atticus Levi

I never understood the appeal behind this name. It’s sold old sounding, attic is literally in the name. I do think of To Kill a Mockingbird, but I feel like the namesake is a bit too obvious. English nerds give this name to their kids, they probably grow up to be nerds, and it had a nerdy namesake. Very stuck up as well, I just feel like it’s trying sound really cool and elaborate then flopping in how ugly every syllable is. Sorry if this was harsh.

I like the sound but wouldn’t use it. It’s a little too out there for me, makes me think of dusty, old attics and is too close to my cousin’s son Atlas. I don’t really see Kit working as a nickname.

It’s very To Kill a Mockingbird.

Another pair of parents who want the world to know that they stayed awake in English class, at least some of the time. Their daughter would be either Scout or, if she was lucky, Alexandra.

But if they were really paying attention, they’d probably use the lovely Jean Louise in instead. Atticus and Scout is tacky for a sibset.

All I can think of is Atticus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird. It’s a nice name but to me it belongs to that character.

I think it is a very sophisticated Roman boy name. But the "attic" part bothers me sometimes. The nickname Kit is a great nickname as well.

I like it more in theory than in practice, I think it would be a bit much for a real person, and it reminds me of Atticus Finch. having said that, it sounds distinguished but not stuffy and I really like Latin names. not sure how'd you get Kit from that, though.

It reminds me of the time in my life when I thought abacus was such a great sounding word that it could be a good name. I now think that is silly, which colors my opinion of similar sounding Atticus. Also the attic part does bring to mind a big empty space, so I associate vacuousness, which doesn't appeal. But I can see it's why people might like it and objectively know it's not a silly word name. It's kind of between Attila, Atlas, and Marcus.
Kit would be a cute nickname for it.
