Help[Opinions] Emily
Emily was a very popular name when I was growing up. I knew several of them, and I have a cousin with this name. My question is, what do you think of it? Is it appealing, or have you heard it enough that it's become completely bland? Do you hate it? If so, why?

When I was growing up, there were no Emily people where I lived; a distant branch of my family tree contains a Florence Emily who was born in the middle-to-late 19th century. I like it enormously and would gladly have an Emily daughter, though my standard combo is Alice Emily, not the other way round.

I really like Emily. I used to not care for it but now I think of it as a slight variant of Elizabeth, which I have always loved so now Emily is on my favorites list. It's so common, though, so when I hear Emily I don't get extremely excited because I get more excited about unusual and unique names. But overall, Emily is a very nice name.

As someone born in the mid-2000s...I can only say that Emily is the equivalent of Jennifer in the 1980s. However, that has never dulled the name for me; Emily has always been a delightful favorite of mine. Surprisingly, I have no family members called Emily, but a 4 year old (extended) family member called Emma (which is also very common in my age group).

I remember only two Emilys growing up; one was a teacher who was probably in her forties. The other was a couple grades younger than I was.
It's better than Emma, but it's so prim and white-bread it holds little appeal for me. Like Sarah or Elizabeth or Amy or Jennifer.

I also have a cousin with this name. Even though it’s been around, i still find it very cute and fitting for this generation of babies. Overall a good name.

It's a bit bland, but I find it charming as a middle name. It has too much history to ever be dated or totally uninteresting.
