I prefer Stefan. I was born in Poland and it was my grandfather's name. The emphasis in Polish is on the first syllable. We also have the form Szczepan which I don't care for.
I prefer Stefaniya to Stepanyda because I am used to Stefania as the feminine form.
My favorite forms of the names are Étienne and Étiennette.
