[Opinions] Elizabeth, Katherine or Meredith?
Elizabeth Cait
Katherine Brigid Leigh (2 middle names)
Meredith Cait*A few notes: Cait is the Irish form of Kate and ties in with our son's name, Connor. Leigh is mine and my mom's middle name, and with Katherine and Brigid I like it as it has a softer sound to add to the end. Hubby's least favorite is Meredith, but unlike the others I feel like it's not yet too common.*We have 3 days left before due date...after researching names for over 4 years I'm surprised I'm left with 3 such classic (if not boring?) names...but at almost 32 I just can't like any of the trendy names, and they just don't seem right. I want the name to have a lil spunk to it and don't want this lil girl to be lost in a sea of "this's" or "that's". Kate/Katie seems to be the IT name/nickname due to all the Katelyn's etc. Thanks!

My first reaction is Meredith because Elizabeth and Katherine are and have been SO overused over the years. However, you have to go with what you love. I think Elizabeth nn Lily would be sweet, but you also seem to keep coming back to Kate so I'd say you love that one the best, right? Who cares if it's popular. It's not trendy, and it's not masculine or unattractive sounding by any means, so if you love it go for it. So Katherine Brigid Leigh nn Kate gets my vote. :) Good luck.

It's a hard choice between Elizabeth Cait and Katherine Brigid Leigh.

If I have to pick, I'd pick Meredith Cait, but I prefer Kate.

I would say Elizabeth Cait. Elizabeth is a wonderful, classic name, and Cait is a modern name. The two combine are a match made in heavan.

Meredith - because Elizabeth and Katherine are overdone in my opinion, although I do love both names to an extent. Meredith is nice, yet, underused in my opinion. If not Meredith, Elizabeth - there is a wide variety of nn if she feels Elizabeth is too common (and the nns are too common), and doesnt want to go by her full name. (nn include: Libby, Elise, Eliza, Beth, Liz, Lizzie, Eli, Liza (Lisa), and many more...)

Elizabeth Cait definitely gets my vote. I love the name Elizabeth (though I much prefer it sp. Elisabeth), and paired with Cait, it makes a very sweet combination.

Personally I love Elizabeth, and think both it and Katherine are timeless, very classy names that are spunky at the same time.
However, just to see, I checked popularity for 2005. Elizabeth was no. 12 and Katherine no. 36.
Katherine, for me, would be too close to all the others named Kathryn, Catherine, Katharine, Caitlyn, Katelynn, etc., etc. And they almost all, as you say, seem to be called Katie/Katy/Kate. So she might well end up in the "sea" of others with basically the same name.
So I might well go with Meredith. I would consider Meredith Leigh, to keep the tradition going. I think Meredith also has a classy feel. Your husband will love the name once it's attached to a cute baby girl that he loves!
So that's my train of thought.

I'd go with Meredith Cait, assuming your husband likes it enough. Elizabeth and Katherine are both names that will forever be flooding classrooms, no matter what age. Nobody will pay much attention to the beauty of her name. It's like when you see a John or a Mike. Meredith, on the other hand, is classic and underused in today's world. Not to mention, I think it has a much nicer sound.

I definitely like Elizabeth Cait the best :-)

Well if i had to pick i would pick Katherine Brigid Leigh but i think Katherine is very popular at the moment there are soo many girls called Katherine Kathryn Catherine Kate Katie or Katy so i prefer Brigid Leigh but if you like Katherine Brigid Leigh that is all that matters but i think Brigid fits better with your sons name

Last name Peck...That's why I'm not going with Brigid Leigh, which I find very striking, strong and movie-starrish.Brigid Peck - rigid male anatamy. That's what I hear and have had others make similar comments, as well as "frigid Brigid". :(My son who is 3.5 is in love with "Katie Brigid" which I find adorable for a girl.

I don't think Elizabeth and Katherine are common at all. They're traditional, timeless and classy names imo. Meredith isn't really my style either but I love Elizabeth and Katherine. Katherine Brigid Leigh is beautiful and I like this combo best.

I like Meredith Cait best. It's a nice name and indeed not so popular. I think Elizabeth and Katherine are just too common (at least they would be too common for me to use). My personal style is a bit more unusual than the names you have picked out, for me Elizabeth and Katherine are indeed a bit boring. Meredith certainly isn't. btw. Are you still looking for suggestions? (I thought I'd ask before I start making a list with names that would go nicely with mn Cait or Leigh :P)

Not looking, but thanks! At nearly 32 I've found that my taste has changed a lot. I used to love names like Ariana, Juliet, Guinevere, Chloe, Arwen, Lorien, Ella, Elora, etc...kind of light airy fairy names. But, as I aged and it came down to REALLY putting these names on a person (and working with a hubby's opinions), I've changed a lot. Some of my favorite combos I just won't really use?Ella Lorien
Chloe Guinevere
Aubrey JulietThat's more MY style...but not sure they'd serve a girl well over her lifetime. I am drawn to stronger names these days.

Aubrey Juliet and Chloe Guinevere sound really nice! I'm wondering how you pronounce Lorien, since I have an aunt named Laurien and I'm wodnering if it's close to your Lorien. (she pronounces it low-REEN ow like in cow, not like in bow)

I pronounce it halfway between Lori-en and Lori-inn. It's from the forest in Lord of the Rings. Tori Amos used it as her daughter Natashya's middle name.
