George
What do you think of George used on a child today? Do you like it? Dislike it? Why?

I don't like it, I dislike it. It one of the names that I like least, the sounds is very unappealing for me. (maybe you'll like my other least liked name: Henry?)

I think it's too old for these days, but it has nothing to do with the president for me.

Yes but "Dubya" has ruined it for me :-/

I can't really see anyone under 35 with the name. Plus I find it rather ugly.

I think it would be fine to use this name on a boy today. If Harry, Henry, Edward and Robert still get used, then George could be used too. I think it's a strong, masculine name, I like it.

As mom to a six year old George, I think it works very well on a child today. Although George is pretty highly ranked (139 in the U.S.) I've only heard of one other child named George in recent years.
Funny thing about "old" names is, once you meet a child by that name, it just brings it new life! George can be a cranky old man or a lively toddler.
If you are interested in the perspective of a modern little boy named George, my son really adores his name. He loves to introduce himself and hear adults saying what a strong or handsome name he has. He goes on about St. George, Curious George, his great-great grandfather George, and his Aunt Georgiana, all of whom he was named after.

George is a nice, classic name but not one on the top of my list. I hear little boys named George on the occasion so at least I know the name will be carried on for another generation. It's a timeless name that I don't think will ever really completely die out.

I love the meaning, but do have old-person associations with it because I've never met anyone my age or younger with the name. However, I think it's perfectly appropriate, I just couldn't do it myself.

George could work fine on a child today. I have a two year old cousin called George. I don't like it because I think it's difficult to say and ugly, but it's got a nice stately history behind it.

Where I live it is a fairly popular name, I personally know three George's under the age of ten.
I rather like it though I tend to prefer it in the middle name slot.

It's really popular here, so I can definitely see it on a child today!I like it a lot, it's in my Top 5

Well, since my name is the feminine form of George, I've always been sort of fond of it. Plus, it's a family name, so I plan to use it as a middle name for one of my future children. Overall, I think it's good, and should have a comeback!

As another Georgia, I'm quite fond of it too. I was named after a George.

I think it could work on a child today, no problem. Unlike other names that seem middle-aged right now, George has hundreds of years of prominent use. It's not actually tied down to a single image. In fact, its a name I've been loving more and more lately.

I think George could totally be used on a child today, just as I think Henry and Oliver can. I like it, it's stately, regal and it has a nice pedigree and a lot of positive connotations. I do hope it gets used more.
