Wilder?
Would Wilder work as a name for a boy?
Do you think it sounds like names like Walker, Parker and such? (I'm not a great fan of those names, but for some reason Wilder appeals to me)And how about Ville/ Wille (also for a boy)? How would you pronounce it?

I don't really like Wilder at all for a boy. I wouldn't mind it as a middle name if it were a family surname or something, but otherwise it sounds a bit silly to me. I like Ville a lot. I would pronounce it VEEL-eh (you can listen to it here: http://www.sci.fi/~kajun/finns/male.htm ). I met one of my friend's friends in Finland who had the name.

These are my sons - Wild, Wilder, and WildestJust kidding. ;) I like Wilder as a mn, maybe to honor Laura Ingalls Wilder or if it's a family name (same with Wilde, for Oscar Wilde). But it's a little over-the-top as a fn, imo.

I hate Wilder, Walker, and Parker. I do think Wilder sounds different. Walker and Parker are titles sort of, or descriptions (as in, he's a walker), Wilder is a comparison (he's wilder than me). Plus it hasn't got a k.Wille I would pronounce VILL-uh. Like what you live in.

I could never name a boy Wilder because I'm afraid he'd be wild or wilder than most.

Names usually don't go with the person's personality, sometimes it can for example:
My nephew's name Noah means "rest or peace", he is the opposite.

I'm like you. I think Wilder is actually kinda cool, and I normaly don't like Walker, Parker, and other "-er" names.
Neither Ville nor Wille really work for me as a full name - too insubstantial. I'd pr both to rhyme with Bill.

It would work, like you say he'd fit in with current trends. But I don't like it. The connotations of "wild" aren't always the greatest thing in the world, and I don't like surnames used as fns unless they have real famiyl significance, and even then I prefer them as a mns. Never heard of Ville or Wille, but I would be inclined to say Ville like the french word for town. Wille I'm not so sure on how to approach, maybe like Wiley?

Sorry, I don't care much for it, don't like the "wild" part. I've never heard the name Ville/Wille, but it looks either like the word "vile" or a strange spelling for Will.
