My name is Catelin and I don't really like it because I get Cate and Catie, neither of which are particularly good names. I think nicknames are an important thing to consider when choosing a name.

I like Caitlin and KatelynI would strongly consider using Katelyn, particularly if I had a partner who preferred modern names to classical ones. It's a good compromise, and I would also love being able to use the nicknames Kate and Katie (and since I can't use Katherine it's a good way around that!).

I only like Cáitlín(Kathleen) I don't like Caitlin. I have heard it used in Ireland - it's beginning to get popular. I wouldn't use it. It will drop in popularity I reckon when the oldest Caitlins(those in their late teens now) start having children.

WDYT of Caitlin?
- I like it, it's quite strong but sweet.
Would you ever consider using Caitlin?
- Probably not, but it is nice.
Do you think Caitlin will drop in popularity any time soon?
- I doubt it. It has a sound and look many parents seem to like.
Do you know any Caitlin's? How old?
- I actually don't know any.
Which spelling do you prefer? (Katelin, Kaitlyn, Caitlyn, Caitlin etc) and Why?
- I like Caitlin and Katelyn. My reason for liking the Katelyn spelling is because my mn is Kate.

It's sooooo overused where I live. I really can't see it in a good light because of this. I like Caitlin best, but I also like Katelynn if people are purposely using it as a compound of Kate + Lynn not as a variant of Caitlin.

I like Caitlin, but no other spellingsIt looks the nicest and is the most correct! I think it's soft and sweet, but I wouldn't consider using it. I can't see it dropping in popularity anytime soon, what with the whole -lin ending trend and Irish name trend. I've known quite a few Caitlins my age (early 20's). Caitlins, Kaitlyns, Caitlyns, and one Katelynd.

I like Caitlin a lot, but...not as much as I like Kaitlyn. =]I would consider using Caitlin if it wasn't so close to my name. Caitlin is a lovely name.I know two Caitlin's, one is 14 years old, the other 16.I prefer Kaitlyn first, then Caitlin. I'm not too fond of Katelin or Caitlyn though.

I'm a Kaitlyn.....So I'm obviously biased to that spelling. I like Caitlin, but I prefer alot of other names. I wouldn't ever really consider it. I like Katherine much more. Caitlins? Me, if you don't count the spelling. I like Kaitlyn the most, but Caitlin is definitely my second favorite.

I actually really like the name Caitlin, but I don't think I would use it. I like Catherine more. I do think Caitlin will eventually drop in popularity. Most Caitlins I know are around my age, so about 20. My favorite spelling of Caitlin, is Caitlin. I also like Caitlyn. I was almost a Kaitlin so I only like that spelling.

I think Caitlin is beautiful...even though its popular, its not really unique but that doesn't necessarily make the name bad. I know two Caitlins, a Caitlin Rose and a Caitlin Grace, both are slim and blond and sweet so maybe that colors my opinion.

I think it is a beautiful name! It's nms, but i like it.I think Caitlin is always going to be a pretty popular name. Especially Kaitlyn. I know one Caitlyn. Her middle name is May. She is 12 years old, 7th grade.I prefer Katelin or Caitlyn. Kaitlyn holds a unpleasant memory for me and I just think Katelin is cute. Caitlin looks made up to me, and Caitlyn is the name of a friend's daughter. Either C or K, doesn't really matter. Both are adorable, but i think of them as different names, not just the same name spelled different ways. :)

Hate, hate, hate, hate Caitlin. It's overused, and brings to mind a bratty little child.
Catherine is million times better.

I don't mind it, it's not a bad name, just terribly overused and it has been destroyed completely by all its ugly variants from Kaitlyn over Katlyn to Kayghtelynne. I probably shouldn't complain about alternate spellings, though. I do like Caitlin but my favorite spelling of it is actually Cateline. I do not see it as a misspelling, I think it looks similar to Catherine and Caroline so I find it very pleasing. My favorite spellings are:Cateline
Caitlin
Catelin
CatelynIf I had to choose a K spelling I'd go with Kateline, Katelyn, Katelin or Kaitlin and I can stand Katelynn (I see it as a combo of Kate and Lynn). I dislike all the other spellings, especially Kaitlyn, Katlyn and Katlynn.A big issue is that people will probably never spell your daughter's name correctly. Caitlin is not even the most common spelling anymore. So it would always get misspelled no matter what. Because that's the case you can basically spell it the way you want to as you will always have to correct people anyway. So if I had to use it I'd go with Cateline. No, I wouldn't use it. I kind of like Cateline as a middle name, but i definitely would not use it as a first name. I don't want a super common name for my child and I don't want her having to spell her name out for people all of the time and becoming "Cateline, with a C" or "Cateline M.". It is so overused that you might as well just give your kid a number as a name as she will never be just Caitlin anyways. I go to school with several girls named Isabel. I'm only friends with one of them so when we talk about the others it's always "the other Isabel" or "the blond Isabel" which must be so annoying for all of the Isabels.

I like Cateline too :)It looks prettier than some of the other variants. I only like it spelled with a 'C' too, I don't like K's for some reason they look ugly.Do you pronounce Cateline like Cate-LIN or Cate-LEEN?
vote up1
I'm not quite sure yet. KATE-leen is rather pretty. I also like KATE-line for some reason. I guess I pronounce it like Caitlin most of the time but all pronunciations are pretty and if I were to use it as a first name I would go with KATE-leen or KATE-line.

>>Caitlin, to me that is the prettiest spelling. Kaitlin and Katelin are okay, but those are the only variants I don't mind. I dislike the ones that contain 'y's (Caitlyn / Kaitlyn), unnecessary letters (Katelynn), or don't make any sense (Katlyn)
