Viola?
Opinions on Viola? I've always thought it was pretty. It is a nice alternative to the more popular Vivienne and Violet. Are there any other V names that you think are pretty?

Would that be vee-o-la or vie-o-la? I like the Veeola version - like the musical instrument, not like the flower. And I much prefer it to Violet, which I really dislike.I taught a Viola once: typical bubbly schoolgirl, cheerful and friendly, learning the drums! Face like a beautiful tragic mask, which all the art students queued up to draw, but she was perfectly happy as a person. I wouldn't use the name myself, but it's got good associations.

I like it a lot, and I also prefer it to Vivienne and Violet. I also like Valeria, Verin, Verena, and Vinia.

I love Viola, but only pronounced the British way, similar to Violet. Here in the U.S. the stress is on a long "o" sound which I find so awkward.Viveca / Viveka, Verity and Valerie deserve a second look.

Viola means Violet in Latin. It's popular from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night (one of my favorite comedies). I really like it.

I loved Viola for a long time but I hate that it sort of means 'Rape' in Spanish. It is beautiful though.Viatrix and Vesper are other favorites of mine.
