Do you like it? If not, what would you change it to?

My middle name is my mother's maiden name. I consider myself to have only one given name. However, I don't mind it because it starts with Z which is the coolest middle initial to have!If I were to pick a middle name for myself, I've thought of Jožefa because my mom once said she looked up to her grandma Jožefa. Or perhaps Žita, which is etymologically related to my middle name.

My full name is Tammy Lynn! I have a filler middle name and a 60's or 70's popular first name. I was born in 83!!!! lol Got to love your parents!

I don't even have a middle name. Middle names are not common in my country.

Reine & Oneisia
Very unique middle names, but I wouldn't change them. I think they go well with my first name, Cheylyne (pronounced shay-lean)
vote up1
KristenAnd I'm not terribly fond of it. Because my first name is rather common for my age group, I'd prefer to have a middle name that's a bit more out there. Kristen is a little boring and unremarkable, in my opinion.

Ryan. I kind of like it, and I wouldn't change it to anything else.

Rocío VioletI wouldn't change either.

Boring old LynnYes I would change it to something not so common & overused. I never really thought about what I would change it to.
Hmmm...
Kelly Maureen-except that sounds so Irish-American & I'm not Irish
Kelly Marguerite
Kelly Elaine
Kelly Annabeth - I think I like this best.

AngelaFor a while I didn't like it because I thought it sounded kind of ugly, and I disapproved it its placement after Brianna because of
a) the repeating "ann" sound
b) both ending in a
c) one name ending in a and the next one starting with it.. a pet peeve of mine, as it sounds quite awkward out loudHowever, it's definitely grown on me and I actually really like it now. I still don't think it goes well with Brianna, but I don't mind that. I'm also quite proud of my parents in that my middle name isn't Marie or Lynn or Renee, you get it, because even though I think those are all lovely names, they're definitely overused as far as the middle name place goes.. plus my sisters have "filler" middle names (Ann, Elizabeth and, though my parents didn't name her, Sue). Anyway, I like my middle name even though I don't exactly have the perfect combo, and I wouldn't change it. :]

Lynn - could it get any more 70s?

Jane, it's alright. It's my grandmothers name. I would've preferred to be Jana Alice. Jana after my grandmother & Alice after my nana, but that didn't happen. For my confirmation names, I picked Lucy. I was Jessica Jane Lucy R...

Abigail. I wouldn't change it because it fits with my name and it is my nana's middle name too.

What is my middle name? Marie. What is my first name? Ann.I got the two most filler-ish mns of all time as my full name. Mom and Dad weren't the adventurous types. But I have to say I wouldn't change it for the world. I glory in my plain-Jane name and wear it with a badge of honor. Seriously. I love the simplicity of three letter Ann. Marie I could do without. If I could waive a magic wand and go back in time I would advocate for Ann Mairead instead. But once the ink is dry on the birth certificate, for me that's the end of it. I'm an Ann Marie.
vote up1
CatherineI wouldn't change it. It goes well with my first name (Helen), and it's after my great-grandma.
vote up1
Mine too!I like it, too. It goes nicely with Lea and it's after my aunt.
vote up1
ElnaI have a second middle name too but I rather not share. Anyway, yes I like Elna very much (it annoys me a lot that it's not in the database) It was my maternal great grandmother's name and she was (according to my mum) a very strong woman. I've heard a lot about her and I've seen a lot of pics and it's a side of the family that I feel very close to. I would definitely not change it. Elna is user-submitted: http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/elna

I like it. Elna is the brand of my sewing machine :)

Ashling. its ok, but everyone thinks it's Ashley lol

MagdalenaI always go by my middle name. my first name, Ursula, is from my great grandmother, but Magdalena is after my mom, who died when I was born.On my 14th birthday I'm going to legally change my name to Magdalena, for my mom. with no middle name because in my family we don't usually have middle names, I'm the only one with one.& I love my middle name :]

I love BOTH of your names but really love Ursula :)

thanks :] I like Ursula too.
I'm still deciding what to change my name to, because I want to honor my mom, but I kind of feel like I'd be stealing her name then...
so I know I'm changing my name, I just don't know to what

Julia. Yes, I like it.

Kathryn. I like it, prefer the Katharine spelling though.

Ann. Bleh. Not even with an -e! While I like my first name (Catherine), I wish my parents had thought a little more outside of the filler MN pool. I generally tack on my confirmation name, Genevieve, to my first and middle name. When I get married I'll probably drop my MN and use my maiden name as my MN.
vote up1
Guy, I like it so much that my signature is (First Initial) Guy (Last Name).

I was given the middle name Lynn when I was born. I think it's a fine first name, but I never liked it as a middle name. So common in my generation, so plainly pulled from the standard pool of Marie, Lynn, Anne, Elizabeth ... I think 50% of my female peers must have had the same middle name as me. My parents basically asked themselves which of The Middle Names sounded best with the first name they picked, and never looked back.So I deleted it when I got married and put my maiden surname there instead. I'm not into self-naming - I wouldn't try to give myself a new personal middle name. Feels too egoistic to me.
vote up1
I also use my maiden name as my middle name, so Diane is not a part of my name any longer on my state ID, my social security card, etc. But this wasn't done out of any dislike for my middle name in particular--it's what my mother had done, and it seemed to me to be a way to keep a part of my single identity after marriage. On some level, though, I still consider Diane to be a part of my name---I really think of my name as being Janice Diane Maiden-name Surname. It didn't even occur to me to mention the maiden-name-as-middle-name when I responded to the OP--I saw "What is your middle name?" and immediately just thought "Diane."

That's what I wanted to do.I felt the same with my middle name, even though my parents loved it enough to use it as a first name. Everyone seemed to have the middle name Elizabeth.Instead, though, I ended up with an insanely complicated name. Yay for me not asking if I could drop my middle name, instead just settling for a double last name! (I love how non-assertive I am with authority figures.)
vote up1
DavidWhich is after my father. I like my middle name, although I sometimes wish I got a second middle name, which if my parents had stuck with family tradition would have been Leney.
vote up1
Anne. I've never liked it, but it's a family name. If I had to change it I'd change it to Rose or Jade.

KristinaI do like it

My middle name is Michele. I remember when I was little I threw a big fit one day about it not being spelled "correctly" - but it's after my aunt, and she spells it that way, so I suppose at least there's a reason for it. :PIt's fine. It's a family name, so that's nice, at least. I don't know why my aunt rather than my grandparents - I guess because they were saving those names for my sister, lol. (She's named after three of our four grandparents.) I wouldn't change it. It's not particularly interesting, but I don't dislike it.

I love it, it was my grandmother's name. I changed it to this, and I'm perfectly happy with it.

Mine is Joyce (full name Emma Joyce), I don't mind it as it honours my great grandmother but I am not a huge fan of the name itself. However I would never change it mainly because my mum would be very offended.

JeanI love it. I wish it were my first name. It's so old Hollywood, independent woman-y.

On the bright side, you have an outstanding ability to guess freakishly specific character traits based on names.

Agreed! Jean Harlowe gave the name Jean "oomph."

My middle name is Diane. I feel about it the same way I do about my first name. I neither love it nor hate it. It's just typical of the era in which I was born, so it has a very dated feel and it's hard to judge it objectively separated from its datedness. I wish I had been given a family name as a middle name---either Zoe, which was my mother's first name and my grandmother's middle name, or Hazel, which was my grandmother's first name. Either one of those would have been neat.
vote up1
Charlene, I hate it, it's so boring. With middle names, you have liscence to be adventurous because it's not a name your child would have to use everyday. I'd love any kind of interesting middle name, Saskia, Nayeli, Scout

Margaret, after my grandmother (Margaret Ruth) and mother (Helen Margaret). I love it and would never dream of changing it.

KieranIt's okay. I quite like it. I never though to change my middle name.

I wasn't given a mn at birth, so i'm using my confirmation name. I chose Belinda for my confirmation name. I still like it somewhat, but now i wish i had chosen something better. It's not a name that's well liked, as i've seen on many forums. If i had to change it, i would go with either Katherine, Elisabeth or Charlotte. My fn is Grace.
vote up1
I ADORE Belinda!!
vote up1
Belinda is so cool though! I think it has a lot more personality than Katherine / Elisabeth / Charlotte. Not that they're bad names (I like all three), but Belinda is a lot more unexpected and neat. Especially since you picked it yourself! Grace Belinda. I like it. :)

Roseann Do you like it?
No, but I've learned to live with it. It's my paternal grandma's first and middle name smooshed togther (hence the reason it's NOT RoseannE).What would you change it to?
If I could, without disrespecting my late grandma, it would be either Adell (my other grandma and g-grandma's middle name) or Katherine.

My middle name is Jean;however, that is the name I have always gone by. I like it, wouldn't change it-it was also my mother's middle name. My first name is Kathryn, which I also like.

My middle name is Elizabeth. It's nice, especially as a mn because I don't have to deal with all of those ugly nn's like Lizzie and Betsy. You don't nn on a mn lol.
vote up1
Layne - I like it because it was my maternal grandmother's maiden name. And I like that it's short, simple, and unisex so that if I decide to, I can use it as a MN for one of my future kids
vote up1
Edith- the English form of my mom's name, Edit. I don't like it because I have some issues with her, and because it isn't even the Hungarian form. I'm thinking about changing it to Eniko when I'm 18.
vote up1
Erin. I like it now, as it is a bit different from most other women my age have for a middle name (I've found the most common amongst my friends to be Marie and Jane). I hated it when I was younger, though - I thought it sounded really boyish and I wanted to change it to Elizabeth, which is my Mum's middle name.
vote up1
Legally: Elizabeth. However I've more or less dropped it for everyday use - I use my maiden name instead. (I have a double last name but normally just use my husband's for day-to-day. Simpler.) I truly wish I had never changed my name, never taken my husband's name - it was a mistake. Sorry for the off-topic rant. However I did take Juliana as my confirmation name, Even though I ended up deciding that Catholicism wasn't for me I use it on occasion - I chose it for St. Julian of Norwich.

May! It's not "my" style, but I don't dislike it. Emma, May, and Emma May are all a bit too 'little-girl-cute' for me, but I'm used to it and so I think I like it. I'd change it to something honoring probably...

My grandmother-in-law is Emma Mae.She hates her first name with a passion and uses Mae day-to-day. We're actually planning using Mae for our first daughter to honor her.

My middle name is Merrie. It's pronounced like Marie, but more of a mur sound in the beginning instead of a muh. I love it. It was my great grandmother's middle name, so I love that it has significance.
vote up1
Don't have one and I'm glad I don't (we don't use middle names and when used it's a double first name).
vote up1
My middle name is Dawn. I have the same middle name as my mom & as of yet we're the only 2 people I know with it so I'm glad it's not popular or a "filler" name.
vote up1
Lynn. It's typical, I know. I like it, but I dislike its popularity as a middle name. I was named after my father, so it's not like there was no thought put into it whatsoever. I was given his initials, and Lynn is what my parents could agree on. They have fairly different naming tastes, and I was told that they had a hard time naming me because of that.If I could change my middle name, I'd keep the L, and would probably change my middle name to Lorelei.

RoseI love flowers and love gardening, so I think it suits me well. Although some people refer to Rose as an old-lady name, I quite likenit despite it's simplicity

Dominika after my great-grandma. I don't like it.

Mine is Marie. Like a post before me I used to not want it because everyone had it but mine was also named for someone. I was named after my grandmother and my great-aunt. Marie has been passed down since then as a middle name for a while. Stacey Marie, Kadence Marie, Cheryl Marie, Alyssa Marie, Deanna Marie, etc.

My middle name is Marie. I do like it. Although it is usually a filler name, in my case it wasn't chosen to be a filler. I was named after my great-grandmother Marie. That is why I like it so much. Also, I think it's a beautiful name.

Lynn. I like it as opposed to Mae, which was almost my middle name.
