Making Beatrice a little less common
Beatrice found herself in the top 100 names of 2013 in England and Wales, but as I've already sacrificed Eliza and Violet to the top 100, I decided to fight to keep her. So, firstly, which of these is your favourite nickname for Beatrice? Can you think of any more? I'm wanting something off-beat.Betsy
Bette
• Bibi
• Birdy
Bridie
Trixie
Vivi - via Viatrix (heh), but is it too much of a stretch?Secondly, what are your thoughts on these combos? Choose favourites, least favourites, comment, rate, whatever you wish :) There will of course be two middles eventually. Beatrice Andromeda
Beatrice Cassiopeia
Beatrice Demeter
Beatrice Eulalia
Beatrice Europa
Beatrice Evadne
Beatrice Evanthe
Beatrice Giovanna
Beatrice Hedwig
Beatrice Leontine
Beatrice Nephele
Beatrice Philomena
Beatrice Winifred Suggestions, thoughts, etc. all welcome. Sorry for such a big post!Much obliged!

I like Bette and Trixie, not so much the others. The mns seem a bit "off" to me too, sorry.

Ah, I too have lost a few names to the dreaded top 100! (Phoebe, Ivy & Matilda) I once knew a Beatrice who went by Beatty/Beattie (I'm not sure on spelling) which I always thought was kind of spunky. From the nicknames you've listed I like Birdy and Bridie the best. I can't stand Trixie, it just feels like a cats name to me. Vivi is a bit of a stretch, they'd have to constantly explain where the nickname comes from.My favourites of your combos:
Beatrice Andromeda - I dislike Andromeda, there's something harsh and robotic about it to me. However, despite that I like this combo, it sounds like a warrior queen's name.
Beatrice Giovanna - I can't exactly put my thumb on why I like this. I guess because the flow is nice and it sounds kind of romantic-y.
Beatrice Leontine - do you pronounce it leon-TYN or leon-TEEN? Just curious, I like both and they fit nicely with BeatriceSuggestions:Beatrice Octavia
Beatrice Lavinia
Beatrice Isolde
Beatrice Morgana
Beatrice Pandora
Beatrice Laurel
Beatrice Ysabel
Beatrice Epona
Beatrice Everild
Beatrice Peronel
Beatrice Thomasina
Beatrice Celandine
Beatrice Clementine
Beatrice Gaia
Beatrice Ismeneeta: typo

Oh, I love your descriptions of Beatrice Andromeda and Beatrice Giovanna! I pronounce Leontine as lee-on-TEEN :) Beatrice Isolde, Beatrice Morgana, and Beatrice Pandora are just fabulous, so thank you!

Birdie is my nickname of choice for Beatrice. Betsy comes in just behind her.I think Beatrice Evadne, Beatrice Winifred, and Beatrice Evanthe are lovely.

Thanks, dear! :)

Beatrice is my favourite girls name, luckily it isn't as popular here in Canada (yet!). If I had a baby Beatrice I'd call her Betsy. I love Beatrice Philomena.

Well, let's hope it reminds not-so-popular for you! :)

I love Beatrice :)I like Bea best as a nickname, but also Bia or Beah. Have you thought of Beatie? I'm not sure how common of a nickname that is for all the new baby Beatrices. I quite like it because of the book Playing Beatie Bow. From your list I really love Trixie and Vivi (although Vivi might confuse some people). My favourite combos are Beatrice Andromeda, Beatrice Cassiopeia, Beatrice Evadne, Beatrice Evanthe and Beatrice Leontine. Some suggestions:
Beatrice Elowen
Beatrice Althea
Beatrice Cornelia
Beatrice Eleanor
Beatrice Dora
Beatrice Claudia
Beatrice Esme
Beatrice Gwendolyn
Beatrice Paloma
Beatrice Zelda
Beatrice Ursula
Beatrice Xanthe
Beatrice Olympia
Beatrice Estella

Beatie always sounds quite violent to me, though it's just reminded me that I could totally use the nickname Biddy, which I think is adorable. I love love love Beatrice Elowen and Beatrice Olympia.

Without a doubt I'd call a Beatrice Bee. Not Bea, Bee. I think it's adorable and quirky. Or maybe Bitsy? That's pretty childish though...maybe better as a family name. Triss? Tricksy? Hmm. Bia! Bia is also the name for the Greek goddess of might, force, and compulsion, which I think is a fun bit of trivia. As for your combos, Beatrice Hedwig really stood out. Very fun-serious. I really liked that one. Also I really want Beatrice paired with a P-name for some reason, so these popped into mind for me:Beatrice Pomona
Beatrice Poppy
Beatrice Perdita
Beatrice Pepper
Beatrice Parthenope
Beatrice Pyrrha
Beatrice PollyJust for some inspiration :)

Bia is so cute, but it just sounds like "beer" to me, sadly :( I was actually pondering Pomona and Perdita, but I've never encountered Parthenope before, so thanks for introducing me to it.

Good for you. I don't think anyone should give up a beloved name because of popularity. My favorite nn for Beatrice is Beah. From your list, I like Bibi and Birdie best. Very cute.Favorite combos: Beatrice Demeter and Beatrice Evanthe.

Thank you! I'm glad to see someone else likes Demeter, I've really been liking it lately.

Betsy is quite nice as a nickname. There's Betty as well, and maybe Trissie - although I don't really like that as much. Beatrice Winifred is my favourite, followed by Beatrice Evadne and Beatrice Leontine.

Thank you! I'm going to have to ponder Betty for a while, I think; I do like it, but something about it seems almost funny to me.

What about Bess? I love Vivi but I don't think it works for Beatrice. Most of the middle name options are way too over-the-top for me, but Beatrice Evadne is lovely. Beatrice Evanthe could grow on me as well.

Ooh, I didn't think of Bess, thank you!

It's really that popular?? I don't like Beatrice at all. It just sounds like a corset to me :/Some of these nicknames are cute though! Bridie is totally cool! My favorite of these. It's really sweet. Second best I like Vivi. It is kinda a stretch but the others are just kind of meh. With the combos you like some really strange names!! Europa, Cassiopeia, Andromeda? I could never use these in real life xD
I only really like Evadne from these BUT I do like Evadne a lot! I love the nn Evvy too.
vote up1
Can I ask why it reminds you of a corset? I'm quite interested! I wouldn't normally go for something quite so unusual as a middle name, but I felt with Beatrice being so popular it was a good opportunity / excuse to use one of my more out-there favourites :)

I think because Beatrice fits in so well polite tea-parties, all the ladies in white dresses nibbling at sandwiches with the crusts cut off. It's a name that feels like its trying to strap you up and pull you into a perfect shape that you don't want to be. Like a corset. Ohh that kinda make sense that you'd feel like you could use something unusual with something popular :)

Bibi makes the most sense as a nickname for beatrice. The combo hate least is Beatrice Winifred, but I would much rather see Winifred as a first name to Beatrice, which I find quite ugly. The one Beatrice I know is always called Bea, no one calls her Beatrice.
vote up1
"Hate least" - aw :( To each their own, though! I actually used to feel quite similarly about Beatrice; I fell in love with it very slowly, but I guess that's why I'm so determined to keep hold of it.

My cousin just had a baby girl named Beatrice - they call her 'Bea'.

I feel like Bea is going to be fairly prevalent as a nickname, so I'm wanting to choose a more uncommon one. Any thoughts on the combos...?

I love Beatrice Winifred. As for nicknames, ever since I read the Divergent trilogy, I've loved Tris as a nn for Beatrice.
vote up1
Tris is interesting, but I'm not really sure how I feel about it as an every day nickname. It feels a little... flimsy, I think?
