Alexandra "Alex" or "Allie"- Gorgeous and I like the nn Alex
Ginevra (too tied to Harry Potter?)- Ginerva or Geneva could work as substitutes, but It isn't as strongly associated with Harry Potter as Hermione is.
Hera- Like. Hera gets a bad rap, but in some of the older versions of the myths it was actually Zeaus who threw Hephaestus from Olympus. I also appreciate the fact that no matter how much of a philanderer Zeus was she never stooped to his level. Of course Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. The name Hera maybe too closely tied to the goddess.
Antonia- okay
Thomasina - think of it as a cat name
Harriet- alright

Harriet, this one is my favorite. I think it is quirky, classic, and underused.Antonia, I've always love. It is strong, yet feminine.Ginevra, I think more of it as an opera name... Harry Potter is second though. Not too tied, also Ginevera King, whom may have been who Daisy Buchanan was based off of. I like it, it's pretty.Alexandra, Alexandra is Antonia's overused cousin. I like it, but I'm tired of it.Hera, it isn't my favorite goddess name, but I like it.Thomasina, I want to like it, because I like -ina on names and I love Thomas, but it seems too much for me.

I adore Harriet, especially with nn Hattie.
Alexandra is ok with nn Allie. I strongly dislike Alex.
Hera is ok too, but I think it sounds a bit harsh.
Ginevra, Antonia and Thomasina aren't my style at all.

Alexandra - It is a strong and beautiful name that stands the test of time.
Ginevra - I don't think most people would know that this is Ginny's first name unless they are Potterheads, therefore I don't think it is to associated with Harry Potter. I really like this name.
Hera - I like this name, but I always think of it as the Greek goddess rather than a name.
Antonia - I really like this name. It is a name that comands attention.
Thomasina - I love it! It's feminine and strong.
Harriet - I like it. It is spunky and classic at the same time.

I love Alexandra. I don't like nn Allie at all .. alley? But I do like Alex, and Sandra and Sandy too.Ginevra seems so slick and snooty to me. I prefer Geneva.Hera sounds imperious and ... hair.Antonia is a nice old name.Thomasina is sort of lackluster IMO but not bad, just nms. I guess it's just not frequent enough to start seeming like anything more than a man-name with a woman ending tacked on.Harriet reminds me of harried and hairy so I dislike it... it seems stern, and tattery, and just not very feminine.

Alexandra "Alex" or "Allie" - Most if not all women I've met named Alexandra or any of it's derivatives (Alexis, Lexi, Alex, etc.) have been of poor character, so unfortunately I hold a bias toward this otherwise beautiful name :(
Ginevra (too tied to Harry Potter?) - I think that now that the Harry Potter hype is slowly fading, it can be used. That's not too say that people won't recognize it! Try using Evvy as a nickname instead of Ginny.
Hera - This is one I'd be worried about-- naming someone after a wrathful, jealous goddess. The original and quintessential crazy lover!
Antonia - I'm neither here nor there with Antonia.
Thomasina - Beautiful. I've loved it since I was a little girl. It's a very sweet and warm name.
Harriet - A name I wish I liked, but don't. Hettie would be a cute nickname.

Alexandra "Alex" or "Allie" - I like it, it's strong and feminine. I prefer Alex to Allie.
Ginevra (too tied to Harry Potter?) - I don't really like the 'gin' beginning, but it's not bad.
Hera - It's ok, it's not a name I've ever really thought about.
Antonia - Like it but I'd be concerned it would be shortened to Toni.
Thomasina - Like it a lot. I wanted my younger brother to be named this if he'd been a girl.
Harriet - Like it, I slightly prefer Henrietta though.

Alexandra nn Alex or Allie- all a bit dated. Probably because of all of the girls named Alexis, Lexi, Alexia, etc that I know.Ginevra- Perhaps. But Ginny wasn't called Ginevra that often. According to Wikipedia, it's a form of Juniper, and other related names are Guinevere, Geneva, Genevieve, and Jennifer. I prefer Geneva and Geneve (French form of the city name), and Ginevra as names. Jennifer is too dated. Hera, Antonia, Thomasina, Harriet- I'm not a fan of any of them, but I don't despise them either.ETA- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juniper_(given_name) I didn't realize that Ginevra/ Juniper had such a long history as a name.

Alexandra/Alex/Allie: I love these nicknames. Not so crazy about Alexandra in full, but Alex is one of my favorite names for a girl, and Allie is cute.
Ginevra: Can't warm to it. It's too distant. Doesn't remind me Harry Potter, so that's a plus?
Hera: Not my thing. Ugly.
Antonia: I like it, but I would be afraid to use it because I hate the nickname Toni.
Thomasina: Cute, in that clunky sort of way. One of my favorite names when I was a kid.
Harriet: Not attractive. Big, hairy, hulking chick. That's all I see when I hear it.

Alexandra "Alex" or "Allie" -- I love Alexandra but feel it's been overdone. I despise the nickname Alex for it. Too masculine. Allie is much better. If I were to use Alexandra, though, the nickname I like is Zan.Ginevra -- I'm one of the few people here who know nothing of Harry Potter, so for me that's not a problem. I find Ginevra awkward to say, which is the reason I've never warmed to it.Hera -- this is just ugly.Antonia -- Like it visually, but sounds a little harsh. I'd use it as a middle name. I'd fear the nickname Toni.Thomasina -- This is charming, but I think it would be a mouthful to say on a regular basis, so then there'd be Tommie, and I hate boyish names on girls.Harriet -- Want to like because it seems so nineteenth-century, but just can't really.

Alexandra "Alex" or "Allie" -- Alexandra alwasy strikes me as kind of bitchy.
Ginevra (too tied to Harry Potter?) -- Not too tied to Harry Potter, but in my opinion, a bit off. I do have that Leonardo painting in my room, though.
Hera -- Maybe.
Antonia -- I have always thought it was elegant.
Thomasina -- Awkward feminization. Theodora is so much better.
Harriet -- good.

Alexandra "Alex" or "Allie" - Never liked any form of the Alex's. Alex looks cool and all but the name is so meh to me. I've known too many Alex, Alexis, Lexie, Allie's for me to like it.Ginevra (too tied to Harry Potter?) - I love Ginevra, even if I always forget how to spell it! My brain makes me want to switch the E and the V. It does make me think of Harry Potter, but not in a bad way. It's so bold, and fiery. Love it. Recently fell in love with Ginevra Fern.Hera - It's okay. I don't like short names as first names (although I love Lucy and Lily). But think it would make for an awesome middle name.Antonia - Big fan! Don't care what anyone says, I love kind of frilly classical girl names that can have a more masculine nickname. Antonia is lovely.Thomasina - Same as Antonia, but I love Thomasina more. Never met one but I think it's a great name.Harriet - In theory I should like this, but it's so frumpy. Maybe paired with something more funky but I can't think of anything that could save Harriet for me.
