Re: WDYT??
Greenlee/Greenleigh - NMS. I just don't see the appeal. Green being a color and tacking on a -leigh just doesnt amp up the meaning, sound or imagery for me. Plus, it reminds me of Greely, which is a popular surname locally. I suppose it could work today, but I am just not a fan. Meadow - really like this. I have been debating whether I have the guts to actually use it on a child. My brain has Nadine and Meadow as top choices for a girl right now... depending on the direction we decide to go. The sound is pleasant, the imagery is pretty and it is both recognizable and easy to spell. I just think it works. Eden - It works. I like it too. I have been seeing this name crop up more and more in Christian circles, to offset the Sarah, Rachel and Marys out there. This and Genesis seem to be the new thing. To me though, Eden also provides a trendy yet pretty alternative to honor an Ed(ward). Saskia - This has a lovely sound, and I have so oft seen it in books for characters that I already like it. The fun part is that it starts with Sass ;). I know that is not quite thr pronunciation, but I like it. This doesn't fit my personal style at all, so I would never use it myself... but the name is quite lovely. Petra - very strong, standard, traditional to me. I know so many, both German and Italian. It's a sophisticated choice and quite cute on a toddler. Jada - Prefer Jade. I feel this version just takes all the strength out of such a pretty gem name. Though, I will admit it has a pleasing sound. Hazel - So pretty! Love it. I think it has the perfect amount of spunky personality and old-school charm. This is just a great name. Plus, it has the distinction of being one of those eathy-type names that is also considered somewhat traditional (like Rose). I would sooo use this name myself, but Dh has a cousin named Hazel. Heidi - my name :) I think it's a good choice. You don't meet too many yet it is recognizable. It's a pretty name and short. Some people muddle the spelling, but not annoyingly so and people always seems to remember it because its a rather iconic name. I have enjoyed being named Heidi, so I have nothing bad to say about it. Magnolia - I hope this comes back. I keep seeing it on name sites lately. I predict a jump in popularity (not a huge one). I think the time of the long flower names is nigh and Magnolia will be leading the pack! Tons of nickname potential, and clear historical use (in the States at least).
