My neighbours are Jack and Jackie. I know two married couples with the same names: Kim & Kim, and Kelly & Kelly.
I don't think it's awkward. I dated someone in high school named Samuel (I'm Samantha). At the time, we both went by Sam. Our last names also rhymed. Everyone thought it was cute.
