[Opinions] Rose
I like Dahlia, but it bothers me that it's surname Dahl +ia and a genus. I have the same trouble liking Zinnia... I can forget about that when it's someone's name, and enjoy it as a name, but I can't overlook it when I'm picking my own favorites.Rose has this thing going on where it sounds plain and a little harsh and old-fashioned, like Ruth, but evokes roses so it's also summery and feminine like Dahlia, and also it's thorny and heavy with symbolism like Athena or Sophia, so it's a powerful seeming name for a woman ... it's complex, or simplex ... and that's very appealing, gives it a sense of potential.- mirfak
