I think Judith is a lovely, classy name with a beautiful meaning, and I love the nicknames “Judy” and “Jude”.

My name is Judith, and I am a child. I was born in the late 2000s. Any who, I adore my name. I've never met anyone else with my name in real life. I do prefer to go by Judi, though- because for some reason I really dislike when people say my name like "joo-dit" instead of "joo-di-thuh" which is how 90% of the people I know pronounce it. Although, Judith is a very outdated name, I find it cute. Similar names like Judiane and Judia are super cute as well! ^_^

It feels like I have prune juice in my mouth whenever I say this name. It’s quite ugly, dated, the meaning is too annoyingly specific unless you’re actually Jewish, and the nickname Judy is ugly. “The naaame game Judy!” Jodie is better though. The picture under the name is cool though. Anyways, I see why this name didn’t last very long.

My name is Judith born in the 90s. I love my name doesn't feel old lady like at all! I've never met another Judith in person. Some people call me Judy. As an adult close friends and family started to call me Jude and I love it because I'm a fan of masculine nicknames on girls. I've started to really like this name. Mostly because I like the nickname Judy (based on both bad-ass real women named Judy and fictional women named Judy), but it is a nice name, especially as far as older names go. (Not really a fan of names like Mildred or Gertrude, sorry, but Judith/Judy has a softer sound, in my opinion.)

This is a strong, classic name with a lovely sound. It is reminiscent of the word “jewel”, and has a connection to ancient history. Keep in mind that if your daughter becomes a professional (e.g. a doctor or a lawyer) it will be to her advantage as a young woman to have a name that makes her sound like a seasoned practitioner on paper. People who think “old lady name” is a point against a name clearly haven’t considered that their daughter may one day be ambitious! Judith is versatile and elegant, like a classic gown or a well-tailored suit.

This is a good, good name. Classic, simple, elegant! Yes, it may sound a little bit like an older woman name, but at least it has quality in it, unlike many childish or made up names. Judith is sweet and strong at the same time.

Very pretty, I love its history. On The Cosby Show the youngest girl in the family was nicknamed Rudy. Guess what her first name was...Rudith. Rudith is a horrible name, and Judith is much better.

Judith is the feminine form of "Judah" which means "praise." My name is Judith, and I was given the name because it meant praise, like Judah. I grew up being called "Judy" but started going by Judith after high school. I think it's funny that the name Judith wasn't very common until after the Protestant Reformation, but Protestants generally don't regard the Book of Judith as part of the Bible. Anyway, it's a great name with the option of 2 cute nicknames: Judy or Jody!

I cannot believe that a lot of people find this name to be old lady material. This name is far from it. I picture a young lady with dark hair and olive skin with exotic features.

Lol, I love this comment. I sorta associate it with older women because that's when it was most popular so everyone else I meet with the name is my mom's age but I have dark hair, and a slightly dark complexion (probably from a mix of European ancestry including French and German).
