All I can think of is Theodore from Alvin and the Chipmunks.

I know sooooo many little newborns to three year old Theodore’s in our area. It’s lost the appeal.

Theodore is the world's best name and everyone who doesn't think that is so weird.

I cannot put into words how nerdy this name is omg. Makes me think of Theodore Decker from The Goldfinch. (a nerd) I mean, it's fine if it's used for historical characters, but I would never name my child this.

Personally, I hate this name so much. It sounds so ugly to me. Like not ugly on a person, but ugly by itself. If it was attached to a person, I might like it more; but I've only ever met one person named "Theodore", and he was not a nice person, very snobby. Not to offend anyone, just my personal experience.

My favourite name since I was very young! I love the nickname Teddy, Theo is nice too. It’s very trendy right now, but will hopefully die down in a decade or so when I have kids. Classic but youthful. It’s a beautiful name that I can’t find fault with, I also like the feminine Theodora. I will come back to you in a few years time with my baby Teddy….

Theodore is a distinguished and classy name. Despite what Jace Hendrix insists, Theodore Roosevelt is a great namesake. He made sure Americans had fair wages for their work, good conditions in which to live, and protection from impure foods and medicine.

I think my name is cool though I prefer Theo.

I initially didn't like this name, but it has grown on me quite a bit. I slightly prefer Theo as a standalone name over Theodore though.

I personally have always loved this name. Every time I see a character in a book or movie with the name Theodore, I automatically like them. It's one of my favorite names of all time. It sounds majestic, but also comedic and fun. People named Theodore strike me as kind and gentle, I highly recommend this name.

I think Theodore is a nice name. It's such a beloved classic with many adorable potential nicknames, such as Teddy/Teddybear, Theo, Ted, etc. I think it's a strong name of its own, too, and would age beautifully, in my opinion. Although it has been around for a while now, I wouldn't say it's outdated, but rather graced with a lovely retro charm.
Overall, I like the name Theodore and am glad to see it making a comeback.

Most of the negative comments concerning this name must have been written by juveniles. Theodore has always been considered regal and sophisticated. I feel honored to have been named it 57 years ago. Although my Christian name is Theodore, I go by Ted. However, I sign important documents with Theodore. Ted and Teddy are the only shortened versions of Theodore that I recognize. I don't recognize the name Theo as a shortened version; nor do I consider Ed or Edward as versions of Theodore. I don't like them and I don't respond to them.

My grandfather, dad, brother and nephew are all named Theodore. The amazing thing is they all use it differently. My dad is Ted, my brother is Teddy and my nephew is T.J. I think it's a strong name with a nice variety of nicknames. Also, the girls love calling a boy Teddy like a Teddybear and these guys eat it all up, lol.

My sister just named her Baby boy Theodore? I was like what are you doing? This is a ludicrous name? It's pompous and snobby and way too long for a child to print in Kindergarten and way too formal for a man to be taken seriously at work. It's old. Outdated and I want to scream this from the rooftops. I cannot so will weigh in here. I am pleased to see such support for such a silly name. Perhaps my nephew will not hate his name after all and perhaps I will get over being embarrassed to share this child's name in public. Wow.

Great name... being a Theodore for 60 years now... the only downfall is everybody calls you Ted automatically which is a name in itself. I introduce myself as THED... this gets people thinking of what my full name is. Then I tell them Theodore.

As a Theodore myself, I go by Theo. Ted and Teddy sound really outdated, but I don't mind them too terribly. Expect your little Theodore to be a troublemaker. Trust me.

My legal name is Theodore, and my parents nicknamed me Tad. I wasn't a big fan of Theodore as a kid but have come to really like it as an adult. In fact, I often consider introducing myself using a nickname more closely related to Theodore, such as Theo, Ted, Teo (Teo is my favorite), or even Theodore itself.

Such a great name. It reminds me of Teddy bears and Laurie from Little Women (who is one of my favorite characters in that book). I like its feminine counterpart Theodora, too. I'm not sure I would use it, but I just think it's a classy, wonderful name for a boy (and Theodora for a girl).

My first impression of this name was from the chipmunk, so I thought it cute and musical. Then I read Little Women and fell in love with the name again, and the character nicknamed Laurie in this is such a well rounded character, which I like. I went off the name when I noticed that it contains the word 'odor' within it, which is stupid I know, hence why I gained a new appreciation for the name from Theodore Roosevelt, and the nickname Teddy is just adorable, the odor is pronounced more like adore anyway! I also noticed that another unconventional nickname could be Thor, which could inspire strength. But this whole name inspires strength to me, and gentlemanly notions, historically a backbone, and the capacity for the more modern nickname Theo. I am surprised that it is so popular, but also not, as many people appreciating this name as I do, is both a good and a bad thing. I just hope it doesn't get too popular since this is a favourite of ours if we should have a son. There are not many names that have the distinctive sound of this name. It almost sounds like "thee-adore" lol :-D.

I love this name. I think it's really cute and spunky on a little boy. It's one of my favorite boy names, also Nathaniel. I think Nathaniel and Theodore would sound cute together as a pairing name. The only issue that I have is the chipmunk reference. I don't mind it what irks is that everyone can remember that Theodore was a chipmunk name but they don't remember that's so was Brittany, Jeanette, Eleanor and Simon was also to.
I just feel annoyed by that because why did just Theodore have to have such a derogatory reference on a name when other names from the show don't carry that? I really love Theodore and it doesn't affect my perception of the name it's just awesome! Also, my favorite nicknames are Teddy and Theo. Theodore is a very classic name, I like it a lot. I don't like the nickname Ted too much, but I like Teddy. My friend said she knows a little boy named Theodore who goes by teddy, and I thought that was adorable! It's good to see there are still children with classic, vintage names rather than crap like Caden or Liam.

This name is really overrated in my opinion. Almost everyone who wants a classy, traditional name calls their son Theodore, and it almost inevitably gets shortened to Theo. I have the same problem with Alexander and Benjamin. Perfectly fine names, but ruined by their obvious nicknames.

Theodore is one of my favourite names; of course, I may be biased. 1) it's my nephew's name and 2) I like names that are names and not nicknames or words. I'm sick and tired of boys named Hunter or Jake or Skylar or DeShawn. Theodore is regal and mature sounding, but also cute for a little boy like my nephew. While I agree that Ted isn't the most attractive nickname ever, Teddy is sweet for children and Theo is great for a teenager. Ugh, the shortened Theo works for me. Theodore sounds so affected and dorky - Theodork. Theo is mature and sophisticated enough to stand alone where as the pet form Teddy does not. If I loved Theo stand alone I'd never consider Theodore for the official name. Not worth it.

I am a girl called Theodore. I don't mind it but, naturally, people always assume I am a boy. Everybody calls me Theo (pronounced tay-o, as my mother is French). I don't mind this name but would never name a child Theodore because it and its common nicknames (eg. Ted, Teddy) sound rather out dated, in my opinion.

Shockingly enough, this name is still quite common. This full version sounds quite pompous and old-fashioned, and I don't like the kid-like Ted and Teddy either. Besides, I can only associate this name on Ted Nugent. I can be quite negative. So sue me. Many people have ruined names for me, so he sure would!

This is my infant son's name. Obviously I love it - so gentlemanly and handsome with the ever affable nickname Theo. We choose our names based on how the name will carry our child through life and doors that may open for our child as a result. I can imagine a high court judge named Theodore, an artist or plumber named Theo.
