[Opinions] Maya
What do you think of Maya? I'm really starting to love it but I fear it's still too popular. WDYT? Do you think it will continue to rise? It lost a few places compared to last year so I hope it will be out of the top 100 soon. Do you think it'll sound dated?Do you know any girls named Maya? How old are they? Do you happen to know their middle names?Which spelling do you prefer? I used to prefer Maia for a very long time but now I really like Maya. I think it's because I prefer the meaning of Maya ("water"). I still like Maia, though. I guess you could also spell it Maja or Mya, but I don't like those spelling very much. What do you think of when you hear the name Maya? It always makes me think of dark chocolate and a river in a rainforest.Do you think Maya goes well with my other favorites? Estella (still looking for the right middle name), Adelaida True nn Ada, Maya and Jessamine Rose (still looking for a more interesting middle name) nn Jessie?Do you know any good middle names for it? I kind of like Maya Egypt but I worry it's a bit much. I also like Maya Alexandria and Maya Cordelia.Do you pronounce it MY-ah/MAH-ya or MAY-ah? I pronounce it MAH-ya. But MAY-ah has been growing on me, only that I'd spell it Maea. WDYT?

Maya has many possibilities and works in multiple languages... ma-ya... though slurred together at normal speed, it sounds more like Mai-ya. It's kind of pretty and only moderately overdone and trendy compared to Emma and Emily.too tired to thing of mns right now. sorry

I love Maya. It's been growing on my lately. I definitely don't think it's too popular, but it isn't dated either. I'm not sure where it's headed, but I don't think it's going to move drastically in either direction any time soon.I went to school with a Maya. She'd be 22 now. I've also met a few little girls in recent years named Maya.Maya is the best spelling. And I agree about the meaning.Yes, I think it goes well with your other favorites.I think both Maya Egypt and Maya Alexandria are a bit much. They sound too ancient civilization-ish (probably because Maya sounds like Mayan).I pronounce it MY-yah.I also really like Mia.

Love the name and this spelling, although I do also like Maia too. I pronounce it as MY-ah. Maya Egypt would defintely be too much imo. What about:Estella Rose, Adelaida True, Maya Pearl and Jessamine Faith
Estella Rose, Adelaida True, Maya Celeste and Jessamine Freya
Estella Rose, Adelaida True, Maya Phoebe and Jessamine Hazel
Estella Rose, Adelaida True, Maya Sadie and Jessamine Clara
Estella Rose, Adelaida True, Maya Willow and Jessamine Lilac

I don't love it but I don't hate it. A former school friend of mine recently had a little girl named Maya, I don't know her middle name though.

Maya is lovely. I had a friend growing up named Ingrid Maya. It was the first time I learned of a mn that wasn't Marie, Ann(e) or Lynn. I still think the two names flow beautifully together. Maya makes a great mn.But that's not what you're asking. Maya as a fn. It's still popular. I prefer Maia, but Maya is great too. I dislike the Mya spelling because (a) it's not traditional and I'm a snob; and (b) I never know if it's supposed to be Maya ("MIE-uh") or Mia ("MEE-uh") -- VERY annoying.Great sibling set to work with. How about:Estella Sophie, Adelaida True (Ada), Maya Celeste and Jessamine Pearl?Estella Ruby, Adelaida True (Ada), Maya Guinevere and Jessamine Blythe?Estella Charlotte, Adelaida True (Ada), Maya Ginger and Jessamine Carys?Estella Frances, Adelaida True (Ada), Maya Persephone and Jessamine Isabeau?Estella Jane, Adelaida True (Ada), Maya Inez and Jessamine Esme?

I know one girl named Maya. She's 14 and she's sooo sweet. I don't know her middle name, but it is spelled Maya and I like that spelling the best. Maia reminds me too much of Gaia which is also a website that I hate. When I think of Maya I think of the girl I mentioned. I think of a rainforest too, oddly enough! I think of someone who either lives in Africa or Central/South America.MN's... Maya Jade - Maya Danielle - Maya Corinne - Maya Elaine - Maya Elizabeth - Maya Amara - Maya Imani - Maya Kalea - Maya Serena/SeleneI pronounce it sort of a mix between MY-ah and MAH-ya.MAY-ah sounds to me like a hillbilly's pronunciation. =(

I really don't think Maya is all that popular. I think it will stay in the top 100 for a while but definitely not in the top 50, so it's not really all that popular if you consider the percentage of baby girls named this. I don't think it will sound dated because again it's not super popular and trendy like Madison or Kaylee.I know two Mayas. One was a neighbor growing up who would be almost thirty now. I also taught a Maya a few years ago who is now eight.I vastly prefer Maya.I always think of my neighbor when I hear the name who was very Scandinavian, blue eyes and blonde hair, looking. She was very pretty. I think it goes well with your other names. I like Maya Cordelia out of your combos.I pronounce the name MY-ah as this is how every Maya I know has pronounced it.
