Malia sounds a lot better than Maleah.
But i still think they are both kind of ugly. Why don't you go with just Leah (as the first name), that is one of my favorite names.

Um, "right" responses? What?

I only like it said MAH-lee-ah and spelled Malia. I hate muh-LEE-ah. Maleah looks hideous to me, sorry.

Lia is a cute nickname.

I don't think it's ugly, excpet said muh-LEE-ah.

What do you mean, the "right" responses? It's an OPINIONS board, there are NO right responses!

I don't mind Malia, but I don't find the Maleah spelling attractive. Neither is outdated.

I don't really find any of the 'Lia' nicknames natural for Malia, since in my accent it's pronounced MAH-lee-uh. I'd use Mali (MAH-li) as a nickname if a nickname was necessary at all.

Jackie, calm down!

This constant shrieking and exclaiming is getting on everyone's nerves. You don't need to shout, and you don't need to finish every sentence with a dozen exclamation marks.

Please try to talk normally rather than sounding like a squeaky over-excited pre-teen. It really is irritating!

It's not constant, and when you're typing and trying to handel five other people's needs, all under the age of ten, IT AINT EASY!!!!!

I have looked after four children under the age of 10 many times (I have 5 younger siblings, and they have friends!) and I never used it as an excuse to behave like a 9-year-old. If you are finding life difficult, don't post!

Malia is a lovely name. It's definitely not ugly and outdated. I much prefer the spelling Malia over Maleah. Lia would be a nice nickname.

It's a pretty name. I prefer Malia, "Lia." If you use Maleah, the nickname should be Leah.

Malia is pretty

provided you're pronouncing it MAH-lee-uh. Having a sister named Leah, Maleah just looks to me like ma-LEE-uh. Bet I'm not the only one who sees it that way, either, though.

I like Malia better than Amalia. My personal choice is Mahalia.

It's not outdated at all--it sounds quite modern to me. I don't really like Malia (which looks like Molly-uh to me) or Maleah (which looks possessive in the vein of horrors like MyAngel to me). I would spell it Maliya, myself; that spelling makes the most sense to my eyes.

Mali or Leah/Lia/Liya/Lea would both be fine nicknames, but the name works quite well standing alone. I know a girl named Malia--she's two years ahead of me in college, IIRC--and she wears her name very well without a nickname. :)

It's not a name that appeals to me, but it is respectable enough.
