old fashioned names comeback
Since the old names are coming back, it got me thinking. Now the boys name Stanley is starting to grow on me. Your thoughts?

I like it. It's a bit frumpy and I tend to like that kind of names for boys.

It's okay. Stan is a cheery sort of name.

I like Stanley, if only for Stan. I think Stan is a 'good guy' sort of name. So, yeah, I approve.

Stanley doesn't appeal to me, though Stan does. I know a youngish Stanley, but it still doesn't seem likely to make a comeback. Perhaps the a and the -ley ending bring it too close to Ashley?I knew a Stan once and assumed he was Stanley, but he was actually Stamatios, making life easy for his non-Greek friends.

What about Stanford?

Wouldn't work for me - where I live it's an upmarket holiday village when it isn't a surname! It has a good sound to it, but the thought of naming children after a university isn't appealing. Like Prince or Duke or Doctor.

I don't like it, but if George can come back then Stanley can come back. :)

I kind of like it.

I always imagine a creepy guy with that name... I don't know why and I think it's just me, so don't worry about ;)
When I ignore that, and I think about its sound, etc., then it's an okay name; nothing great but also not bad.

I like Stanley. I noticed not a lot of people do. I don't know why, but it doesn't seem to have the same success as some of the other old fashioned male names.

And a few years ago I remember being at some store and a child being called Stan. I told the person that it's refreshing to hear.
