some names
These are names I find it difficult to make a decision on whether they are PNL worthy, I actually like them, or go between really liking and hating them.Danielle - I love it, then I hate it. I'm not sure about the -nyel bit, and I knew an awful woman with this name, and wonder if I'll ever rid myself of the associationAnne - is it plain, boring, old, or lovely? It's very easy to use for a mn, but are there many more names I'd prefer in the fn spot? Also, Ann or Anne?Mary and Marie - ditto AnneCharlotte - I used to be sure I hated this name, though when I was younger it was the name I gave to my doll (who was pretty much like my child for about 8 years). Now that I'm hearing it a lot, I think I'm warming to it again.Morrigan - I go back and forth, I like Morgana and Morwenna, so do I NEED Morrigan? Do I have space for it? Does it have anything Morgana doesn't? Does it sound like a name at all?Harley - I think I'm quickly going off it. Same with Marley.Charles - it's an honouring name (although I'm unlikely to actually have any children, but I like to play hypothetically) but I think I dislike it. I could use Peter instead, which I find less offensive, but it doesn't work so well in the mn spotJames - fits really nicely in the mn spot, but is it a cliche there? Does James deserve a fn place? What do you think?

favorites: Marie & Charlotte, dislike most: MorriganDanielle - sounds too much like Daniel which is a boys name to meAnne - It may be a pretty middle name, but as a first name it's too boring to me. Prefer Anne though. Ann is a middle name to me ONLYMary and Marie - Mary is old-fashioned and lame, but I like Marie - although it's not too exciting as wellCharlotte - like it, but it's not too excitingMorrigan - looks made up - and masculine, which it isn't, right?!Harley - A motorcycle brand, not a good name to me. I like Marley though!Charles - dislike! Boring and over-used. Peter is better!James - one of those middle name fillers. I don't like it

Not a fan of Danielle myself. Don;t really hate it but I can't bring myself to like it eitherAnne - I love this name, I thinks it's a really pretty, simple girls name that wears really well. Prefer the spelling Anne Mary and Marie - Love Marie more than Mary, more of a middle name for my than a first but I think Marie is a pretty first name and it sounds less old fashioned than MaryCharlotte - Really like this name, it's just so pretty!Morrigan - I personally don't think this sound like I name, I much prefer Morwenna or MorganaHarley - no, it's a horrid nameCharles - a good old fashioned boys name that also has a nice, not childish sound nickname.James works well for both first and middle name for me

Danielle - nice, but has always felt like a very perfunctory feminine form of Daniel.Anne - classic and nice. I much prefer Anne to Ann.Mary - does kind of feel old and a bit plain. Marie just sounds French. I prefer Maria.Charlotte - this is my name and I have honestly hated it for most of my life. I've grown into a begrudging acceptance of it, but I don't think I will ever truly like it, especially not now that one in every ten girls under ten is named it.Morrigan - nice, but prefer as a middle name. Not sure I can picture it as a fn at all outside a fictional/mythical setting. Prefer Morgan, actually, or Morgana. Morwenna kind of sounds a bit whiny. I suppose Morgana could work okay as a first name, as it could be shortened to Anna or even Moira? But I think I still prefer it as a middle name.Harley - for a guy or a girl? Though honestly, I don't like it much for either. I always think of Harley Quinn, whom I like, but there's the puns that she even makes herself: "Don't you wanna take a ride on your Harley? Vroom! Vroom!"Charles - classic, but terribly overused. I find it terribly dull; I wouldn't even use it for a mn. Peter is far nicer, imo; I like Peter. :)James - about the same as Charles. Overused to the point of hilarity, honestly: James Kirk, James Barnes, James Howlett, James Hook, James and the Giant Peach. I far prefer Jacob, Jason, Joseph, even John (which probably should feel just as boring for basically the same reasons, yet somehow doesn't).

Anne and Mary are far from boring - but due to extensive use may have lost charm; which is common for (once) popular names. I do not know (of) many Charlottes, so to me, the name is rich--especially with warmth & distinction. The beginning "sh" sound - rather than the "Ch" sound softens the entire connotation. Morrigan and Morgana, if not twin brother and sister, are still children of the same earth, and would play together nicely as alternates.
