Molly / Mollie: the second is a type of fish. Stick with Molly.
Polly / Pollie: Eh, I would need a full name for this one.
Holly / Hollie: I've never liked this name, though I like the idea of Holly. Hollie is a bad spelling. You could also use the longer name Holliday and Holly or Hollie as a nickname.
Milly / Millie: I like it better than the full, Millicent.
Sally / Sallie: Sally Draper ruined this a little for me, although I didn't have much of an opinion of it beforehand except as the storybook character a la Dick and Jane and Sally.
Poppy / Poppie: Poppie is even worse than Poppy. I get more of a pimple vibe. Yech.
Becky / Beckie: Eww. No.
Dolly / Dollie: Dolly has potential, but its still a very southern nickname. I think Dixie will come into fashion sooner.
Dotty / Dottie: Okay, but prefer as a nickname to Dorothy.
Netty / Nettie: No. Not my thing.
Nelly / Nellie: Okay, but the first version always makes me think of the "hot in herre" rapper.
Penny / Pennie: The first is okay, and I much prefer it over its lengthened version, Penelope. The latter looks terrible.
Elly / Ellie: Cute, overused.
Tilly / Tillie: Sweet.

I have never seen Nettie for Nettle! Interesting! The Netties I have known were short for Anita or Annette. I actually considered Annette, nn Netty.

I've always loved Millie, I think it was the first name I ever loved when I was little. I don't like the Milly spelling, but I definitely think Millie is usable. My best friend has a dog named Penny, so it doesn't really register as a human name to me. Ellie, Molly, and Holly are alright as names, but the rest sound like things little kids name their stuffed animals and dolls when they're young but wouldn't actually be used for people.

the only ones I like are Molly / Mollie, Holly / Hollie, and Poppy / Poppie. The others can stay as nicknames.

Molly - it's cute, but I have a hard time picturing this name on a grown woman
Polly - I can't take this name seriously on a human. It just makes me think of parrots and Polly Pocket
Holly - It's okay, but not really my style. I'd say it's the only name on the list that can really work as a full name, though
Milly / Millie - cute. I don't mind it as a full name
Sally - Bland
Poppy - Cute, but like Molly, hard to imagine on someone older than a child
Becky - Hate this name. Much prefer Rebecca, with no nicknames
Dolly - too cutesey to use on a real person
Dotty / Dottie - cute only as a nn for Dorothy, etc.
Netty / Nettie - don't like it
Nelly / Nellie - cute only as a nn for Eleanor, Helen, etc.
Penny - as a nn for Penelope it's okay
Ellie - A friend of mine just named her daughter this. It's so blah and not a name by itself. I do like it as a nn for any names beginning with El (Eloise, Eleanor, etc.)
Tilly / Tillie - very cutesey. Only like it as a nn for Matilda

Funny you say that you can't imagine Molly on a grown adult because after reading/obsessing over Harry Potter I have trouble seeing it on a young child, its cool how one name can be completely different for different people :)

Molly - I think it's blah and childish.
Polly - extremely retro but it has some appeal, sounds like Paulie.
Holly - dated now. It's a nice name.
Milly - Eh. I'm not a fan of Milly, esp. not as a full name. As a nick, it's better.
Sally - retro like Polly but less particular. I like it as a full name.
Poppy - seems so ugly and blowsy! People call their grandfathers that.
Becky - dated but I think it's the best nick for Rebecca.
Dolly - self-consciously retro, seems like a pseud. I guess it could work but it'd be a curiosity.
Dotty - also a little too retro to seem natural, but I don't mind it as a nick for Dorothy / Dorothea
Netty / Nettie - ugly and seems antiquated like Hattie and Hettie
Nelly / Nellie - hm, it's OK. not my style though.
Penny - I like Penny, it's about like Polly. I think it could be a full name.
Elly / Ellie - it's fine, but so forgettable and lightweight unless it's a nick.
Tilly / Tillie - like Dotty, works as a nick for Matilda.Another one - Betty / Bettie. I like it. I think it's similar to Polly, Dotty, and Penny. I also like Peggy. Patty is eh.

I forgot about both Betty and Hattie!I actually know babies with those names. They are less than a year old right now. Both named after Grandmothers though.

I kind of like Molly, and don't mind Nell (but not Nelly / Nellie), the others I either dislike or only like as nns.

Molly / Mollie - bleak, fat and flabby
Polly - cheerful and charming!
Holly / Hollie - lovely tree, not to my taste as a name
Milly / Millie - I like it a little but not enough
Sally / Sallie - was at school with both versions; prefer Sally and would use it
Poppy / Poppie - friend's grandbaby. Sounds unattractive
Becky / Beckie - lovely as a nn for Rebecca; only with a y
Dolly / Dollie - dreadful
Dotty / Dottie - worse
Netty / Nettie - unattractive and faintly fishy
Nelly / Nellie - OKish; prefer Nell
Penny / Pennie - Penny with a y only; I'd use it willingly
Elly / Ellie - very bland
Tilly / Tillie - lovely as a nn for Matilda, but only with a y

I had a "little monkey lost" when I was a child, and I named it Dolly. I eventually got another two and named them Molly and Polly (yes, I know). So to me Dolly is highly usable, and it also holds a very special place in my heart since I had that monkey-thing with me wherever I went for like 8 years. I also have a bunny named Penny, and another one named Elliot nickname Elli (it's a boy). I strongly considered naming the bunny Holly/Hollie instead of Penny. So, as you might understand, I have a soft spot for many of these names and I don't see any problems with using many of them as given names. I like Sally as well. I do also like Millie and Poppy, but wouldn't use them myself. The only ones I can't see being used as given names are Netty, Becky and Dotty.

For the purpose of this answer, I will forget that nicknames as full names are a super pet peeve of mine and I don't think any of them should be a full name.I like:Sally
Becky
Dolly
PennyI dislike:Polly
Poppy
Dotty
Netty
Nelly
TillyAnd I'm neutral on:Molly
Holly
Milly
EllieI prefer the Y spelling for all of them except Ellie. Not sure why that one's different lol.

I used to be anti-nickname-name, but these days I don't much care and am finding them kinda cute that way. I think any of those would be alright as a full name, except perhaps Ellie. It's a bit too vague, I guess.

I like Holly but find Hollie a bit twee and unnecessary. The rest are what I think of as Victorian parlourmaid names and aren't my cup of tea at all. I'm not a fan of giving a diminutive as a full name though

The only one I like is Holly. Molly is sort of cute, but cute the way a fluffy bunny rabbit is cute; just a bit cutesy for a person.
Sally is cute too, but a bit middle-aged. It's better than Sarah or Sadie though. The rest are just too frumpy to like. And Ellies are a dime a dozen, it seems.
