Poisonous Names
Moving on from the Amanita thread below, it occurred to me that I'm named after a poisonous plant myself (there is actually a book called 'Laurels Are Poisonous')
So, I started to think of other 'poisonous names' and came up with:
Belladonna
Bryony
Daffodil
Holly
Honeysuckle
Ivy
Laurel
Lily
Narcissus/ Narcissa
Can you think of any others? Would you use them?

I love Belladonna! The meaning (beautiful woman/lady) really drew me to it, and I like the dark feel the poison gives it. Plus I find poisons in general really interesting. At one point I had Pandora Isabella Donna as a combo to get around it haha. I also quite like Hemlock for a boy. But both Belladonna and Hemlock are firmly in the guilty pleasure category.
Hemlock is genius! If I get a kitten....

I love Desert Rose and Mayapple.....a couple of villainous sisters :)
Many of the poisonous plant names are common enough that the poisonousness of the plants themselves is not a factor. I mean, if you really want to get all geeky and technical about it, onions are members of the lily family and are not poisonous.
I think there's a difference between Laurel, say, and Amanita.

I agree entirely, but I'm quite liking the poison theme for a bit of fun :-)
I love Bryony. All of these names that mean a poisonous plant makes me realize that we here get too hung up on meanings.
Yes. Although true jasmine/jessamine isn't poisonous
