I would have been a Jan (pr. Yan) if I was male.

I’m Katherine and my older brother is Benjamin. Ben would have been Katherine if he had been a girl. My mom liked Emma, but she thought it was too popular. She also liked Kristen, but it was too close to my aunt’s name. It would have been too confusing, as she is around a lot. She also likes Sarah and Hannah. I’ve asked her about boy names, and she said that she and my dad had too much trouble choosing my brother’s name, that she has no clue what I would have been called as a boy. She liked Owen, but my dad said no. James is one they both like, but I don’t think they would have picked it.

If I was a boy, I would have been Adam Roy. Roy is my dad's name. Other girl's names they thought about were Jamie Lynn or Jamie Marie. My sister would have been Shane Michael if she was a boy. Michael is my dad's deceased older brother's name. They almost named her Alison with the nickname Ali, but then they just decided to legally make it Ali because my grandma said we would never use the full name anyway. Her middle name is Michelle, so they still used a middle name for my uncle.

I think I would have been Stephen if I was a boy.

My mother would have named me Curtis after her grandfather for sure if I was born a boy. Other names my parents considered for me that are feminine are Vivian or Sarah.

My cousin Connor was almost named Sonny. My uncle was *obsessed* with that name, and he was pressuring my aunt about it even on the day she gave birth. Luckily she refused to be swayed. He also liked Louis, but Sonny was the name he wanted. For me, my mom considered Trista, Carissa, and Kristle, and Christopher or Carlisle if I was a boy.I actually don't know what other names she considered for my brother, I'll have to ask her.

I'm Paul Benjamin and would have been Emma or Miranda.

Miranda would’ve been lovely!

I was very nearly named Ashley, after my mom's uncle who passed a few years before I was born.
My sister might have been Heidi, a name our mother considered for a time.
I don't know of any would-be names of my other sister, or at least none that I can remember hearing about. I know my brother's name was pretty much set in stone. As soon as Mom found out she was having a boy she immediately went with Jason, a name she always planned to use for a son.

If me or my brothers were born a girl, my mother wanted to name us Christian Nicole. I am not the biggest fan of that name, because it was to be used for religious purposes. It would've been like slapping a title on me, I feel. (She settled with Nicholas for my brother; she had a student named Nicholas who she adored, anyways).

If my eldest brother had been a girl he'd have been Kristin and he was nearly Karl. My cousin born less than a year later is Karl, so that was off the table for kid 2. My mom also decided she didn't want to do more than 4 letters given the length of our surname the girl choice became Anna. If I was a boy I'd have been Drew. The only alternate girl choice for me was Emma. They had toyed with lifting the letter limit and calling me Grace, but opted out.

If I had been a boy my parents would have named me Sean. They were considering Elisa or Jessica but decided to go with Ceridwen to be unique.

I love that! Way better than another Jessica, haha.

My paretns were deciding between Fredrik and Nicklas for my brother, or Nicole if he had been a girl. They named him Nicklas. As for me they were deciding between Joakim and Fredrik for a boy, and Nicole or Felicia for a girl. I'm Nicole, but one of my middle names are Felicia.

Helene. But my dad read a newspaper article about a late Danish actress with Charlotte as her first name, and he liked it so much, that I was given that name instead. And I love that because it's the perfect name for me. I was supposed to have Laurine as my middle name, my maternal grandmother's middle name, but didn't get it, because my parents thought Charlotte was long enough. I did take that on, on my own in May 2020, along with Astrid as first- & second middle names because I thought something was missing. Only then did my name feel complete to me. I'm now Charlotte Laurine Astrid.Christian / Kristian, had I been a boy (that would have been my brother's name, when he came along almost five years later, but he became a Kristoffer instead).

My dad wanted me to be Sarah Anne, after his late mother. My mother didn't; she couldn't tell him that she'd disliked his mother, though it was true, so she just kept on suggesting alternative names. Luckily for me, she had a delivery-room inspiration and my dad was so excited, I think he'd have agreed to almost anything; plus, I got the Anne, which was something.I asked them what my name would have been if I'd been a boy, and they looked embarrassed and admitted that they'd never given it a thought. They really, really wanted a girl. Both their fathers were named Thomas, so that would have been my guess; it's a good name.

My birth was due in April, so my parents planned on naming me April, but I was born a few weeks earlier than expected and they decided to name me something else.

Do you like your name more than April? April is a pretty name.

I hate my given name so much that I'm literally in the process of changing it, lol. April is better but I probably would have changed it anyway.

Dang, that's lowkey unfortunate.
