[Opinions] Laurie or Lori?
Do you like Laurie or Lori better?
There is a difference in the pronounciation: Laurie (lawr-ree) and
Lori (lor-ee) Do you know anyone with these names?
Would you use either for your daughter?
Do you like Laura, Lara, Lauren, Loren, Lauri, Laurey, Laurel, Lorey, Lorel, Lorie, or Lorelei better?
And would you use ever Laurence as a girls names?Best middle name for Laurie?

I would pronounce Laurie and Lori the same. I know a man nn Laurie pronounced LOR-ee and I have to keep reminding myself to pronounce it that way and not LAWR-ee. I would pronounce Lori and LAWR-ee too.LOR-ee just sound like Lorry, and leads to the image of a big truck in my imagination.Lauren and Laura / Lora are ok. I know many girls called Lauren or various ages. I know only two Lauries and both are men with it as a nn for Laurence.I would never use Laurence as a girl's name. Even if it's legitimately a French girl's name.Any name cane go with a fn for mn you just have to like it or have meaning to you. So there is no best mn for Laurie.

I know a million Laura/Lauren/Lauries but..Lori looks too informal to me. I love Lorelei I also like Loren and think it could work for either gender.
Laurence - for a girl in France, but not in U.S. or another English speaking country.

My name is Laurie, and people pronounce it both Law-rie and Lor-ee, and I respond to both. I think the classic Laura is always the best bet and have often lamented that my parents chose Laurie over Laura. Lauren is very pretty but again, Laura to me is the classic form.I think now Laurie/Lori sounds very dated, very 60s/70s. There were 2 Laurie's and 2 Lori's in my h.s. class. My middle name is Anne, very appropriate for anyone with Scottish heritage, as there is an old scottish ballad "Annie Laurie". (Laurie in that instance being a scottish surname).Except for Lara, which I don't consider related to the Laurie/Laura string of names, I don't like any of the other spellings you listed, especially Laurel or Lorelei, I've just never liked these names. And no, I would never ever use Lawrence/Laurence for girl. It is strictly a boy's name.

I pronounce them exactly the same-I have two friends with the name and another friend who spells it Lauri. Lauri is my favorite spelling, then Laurie, then Lori.

depends on where you're from as to how it's pronounced since where I'm at, they're the same.I like Laura or Lorelei with Laurie / Lori as a nn.

I love LaurelAnd I like Laura.I don't get the difference between Laurie and Lori, I would pronounce them the same.I would not use Laurence for a girl, unless I lived in France, where Laurence IS a female name (the male form is Laurent)."You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed."

Ponounciation is key! Take it from some one who knows!
When I visit in NY my relatives say Lor-ee but when meeting new people in NC they specifically ask weather it's Lawr-ee or Lor-ee. Strange! My mom says whatever comes to mind!

I don't like either but I prefer Laurie. Don't know anyone with either name and wouldn't use them for my own daughter.I like Lara and Lauren a lot. I might use Laurence if I were French. :)Image hosted by Photobucket.com

My sister is named Laurie (LAWR-ee). She's Laurie Ann, and most other Laurie's I've ever come across also have the middle name Ann.I wouldn't use either for a daughter.
I love Laurel, Lara, Lorelei (and also Lorna).
I wouldn't use Laurence as a girls name. However my sister was actually named for Laurie in Little Women.

My mom loved "Little Women" too and that influenced her somewhat on choosing my name. It also influenced her on choosing Tara for my sister, since she loved "Gone With The Wind".

I'm named after my paternal grandfather, Laurence, who's nickname is Laurie (him mother liked Little Women)!

My mother originally wanted to use the sister's names. But Jo was taken by her sister and my father had a cousin who named her daughters Amy & Beth. I'm don't recall why she didn't use Meg. Therefore she decided on Laurie.Everyone mispronounces her name as LOR-ee though. Our 5 year-old nephew just can't figure it out, he insists on calling her LOR-ee.BTW, there are two other Laurie's that post on this board. One posts as Laurie, the other posts as Laurie2
