What problems, associations (good and bad), possible teasings do you see for the name Felix on a boy? (other than Felix the Cat of course, which is neutral to me - on one hand, it's a cat, on the other hand, the original cartoon (not the 50's spinoff) is pretty amazing.)

I always had good feelings torwards the name. I don't think so many will even know the Felix the Cat association in the years to come. I liked the name so much I named the cute opossum I took a photo of and sent into the local paper that. I didn't use it when I sent it in of course, but I named him that because of the meaning. :-)

Hhhmmm...the only thing I can think of are his classmates teasing him about wanting to feel things, but that's pretty mild.

I love the name Felix it is cool. It is also a name of many ancient saints and early Popes.

I can't think of any other than Felix the Cat apart from it being a brand of cat food here in the UK but I suppose that's also related to the cartoon with them both being cats.

Besides Felix the Cat, nothing comes to mind. I think it's a great name anyway.

I don't really have any association with the name Felix at all, nor can think of possible teasings. That being said I like the name. It's unexpected but still known and sort of swanky sounding.

I want to get behind the name (pun not intended), but I don't like the sound. It's fabulous in theory though.

Not sure. I really like the name though. Felix the cat doesn't even come to mind anymore.

We came close to naming our son Felix. Its popular in Germany, London, and I think Australia as well. Its the name of a young Prince of Denmark and a Prince of Luxembourg. Currently in the US, the only Felix's I know are Major League Baseball players from Latin America. Felix Hernandez is a great pithcer for the Seattle Mariners.
Only reason we didn't do it is that the eventual name, Henry, goes much better with our last name. Its also known in the US as a popular pet name, but so are a lot of other common names- Max, Sam, Chloe
I did a good deal of research on it- its well liked on name websites posting boards, but it hasn't risen in popularity at all in the last few years- its been consistently in the mid 300's.
