[Opinions] WDYTO Amabel?
We're considering Amabel for our girls list, but my other half has some worries about it, and I agree with him to an extent. What's your opinion on Amabel? Any combo ideas?

It's a gorgeous name, and one zillion times more beautiful than the Annabelle stuff.

I like it a lot. My friend's daughter is Amabel Faith and she gets called Mamie and one of my Aunts has a daughter named Amabel who goes by Bel.I really love the meaning and it is unusual without being too weird. The only real problem is that it will be confused with Annabel a lot but I would prefer to be named quirky Amabel than boring Annabel (this is coming from an Elise who always gets called Elsie).

I absolutely *adore* the name Amabel! I've been pronouncing it like Annabelle but with an 'm' instead of 'n'.

I love Amabel.

I love Amabel. However, if I were to use it, it would only be as a middle name. I think people would almost always hear Annabel, which I don't like and which would likely get annoying for her (to have to correct people so often).

It's ok, but has kind of sprung up out of nowhere as mildly trendy.
I also agree w/ the post before me that Annabelle looks a bit nicer (even if you spelled it w/ only 1 n)

I am kind of fascinated right now-- not sure one way or the other if it's a little clunky. How is it pronounced-- like "AIM-a-bell" or "AHM-a-bell"?I also like the names Arabella and Amara.(vote on my list? http://www.babynames.com/namelist/9516801)

I'm in the minority on this board, I don't like it. Mabel is great though.

AgreeI'm not the fondest of Amabel either. Much, much prefer Annabel.

Yes, I agree, Amabel is a very nice name. But my other half thinks it looks like a misspelling of Annabel, and that it would be confused for that often. Don't know if this is justifiable...

I really don't think that argument holds any water. I mean, you could pick a very common name like Catherine and have it misspelled and mispronounced all the time. A simple "It's Amabel, not Annabel" would probably be all you'd need to correct people.
