I actually prefer Ashley on a boy. It seems aristocratic English and southern gentleman all rolled into one.

I also like Courtney, Darcy, Whitney on boys. They were all once surnames and I kind of like that. It feels masculine to me.

I know a woman whose son named his son Haley. And there is a famous precedent - Haley Joel Osmont or Osmond or whatever.

Go for it! I ADORE feminine names on boys. My all time favorite is Darcy, is sounds SOO masculine to me. I also really like Wynn (unisex), Joscelin, Misha, Sasha, Blair, Aubrey (my nephew), Kelly (my nephew), Addison (my nephew), Sidney (my nephew), and I could go on and on!

It goes with all the Jessica's, Katelyn's, Emily's and all the other popular girl names. To me, it just seems way too feminine to be used on a boy - it'd be like a boy named Emily or something.

No, go for it. Ashley was originally a masculine name. I still see it on boys today.
Even though I know more feminine Ashleys than masculine, I think it fits either gender well.

I would loooove to met a little boy named Ashley! I dated a boy in high school named Ashley. As far as I knew he never had any problems being named Ashley.

I love it. One of my very good friends is a male Ashley. Ashley (this spelling) was pretty popular on boys here in the 80s and Ashleigh (this spelling) was popular on girls. I don't know a female who spells it Ashley (although I know there are plenty out there). I also really love the similar Asher :-)

Originally, Ashley was a masculine name. I personally think it would be quite refreshing to see it make a comeback as a masculine name. Honestly, female Ashleys are a dime a dozen nowadays.

I much prefer it for a boy. I'm sick of hearing it on girls to be honest.

I looooooooooooooove Ashley on a boy. It bores me to tears on a girl, but I think it's so handsome for a boy. I do tend to like a lot of softer male names: Gabriel, Tristan, etc.

I would worry about how it would be received in the 'real world' though. I bet most people don't know it was originally a boy name. Don't let that stop you from using it if you really love it though. If people can name their daughters Ryan and James you can name your son Ashley.

No, it's not too feminine! I love it on a boy, and have never liked it on a girl!
There was a lovely character in Gone with the Wind named Ashley, and a few years ago on Australian Big Brother there was a really masculine guy named Ashley, nn Ash. I think it is gorgeous.

I love Ashley for a boy. I love "feminine" names on boys. My favorites are Courtney and Angel. You would need a more masculine middle name like Ashley Richard or Ashley Thomas or something.
