[Opinions] Nova??
Today I was talking to my husband, and for once he mentioned a name he liked, Nova. He thinks it sounds so cool that he would change his name to Nova. I don't like it at all for a first name, especially for a male.It doesn't really seem like a human name to me. But when I told him its not my style and that it would be funny for him to be named that since it sounds like a girl name, he said he would like it as a middle (but more as a first name) for a daughter. I agreed that we ever have a second child who is a girl, I will consider Nova for her middle (or one of her middles). Or if we don't, maybe for a cat =)Anyways, what do you think of Nova? Can you think of any names that would sound good with Nova as a middle name? I mostly like female names that end with -a, so it's hard to think of good combos.

Where I live, it's a product range of wood treatments and stone sealants. Their TV commercials went something like 'Nova - all over! Easy to choose, easy to use ...'.Wherever anyone lives, it's a Latin adjective and it's feminine.Wouldn't it become inappropriate in later life? I knew of an old lady who had always been known as Baby (she had a string of unattractive names that had been her grandmother's) and became known, bizarrely, as Auntie Baby.

My mom's manicurist has a daughter named Nova -- she's probably 4 or 5 years old.I don't like the name Nova. First, I think of supernovas, and then I think of smoked salmon. Then, I think of a joke my middle school Spanish teacher used to tell about how there was a car called the "Nova" and when they brought it to Spanish speaking countries it didn't sell because "no va" means "no go". It would make a great name for a cat though, especially with the salmon connection.

I like Nova, but for a girl! I even have a character named November "Nova" Carys Sullivan!

I come from the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, originally, so it's all place-name to me.
But it could be a name, sure, if you like.

Chevrolet Nova is very retro.I think it belongs on a cat if it is on a living thing at all. It's a car and a PBS science show.

I know a Nova. She's a girl, which is good, since it's the feminine form of 'new' in Latin.

Yeah, my cousin just named his newborn son Novah, with an "h" because he's special. I don't see the appeal, personally. Perhaps in the Netherlands and Sweden this is a common, normal name, but in the context of where I live, I find it strange. My first thought when they told me their kid's name was "Is his middle name Scotia?" My dad's reaction was "Why would you name your kid after Pizza Nova?" That being said, I much prefer Nova (without the "h") to Kaden or Brileigh. I like the sound of Patricia Nova.

It's in my top 5. I don't see anything weird with Nova, but that said, it's very popular and trendy where I live.
