I am seeing this pop up here on the board quite a bit lately. It's like people are 'discovering' it now because of the recent contestant (Ayla Brown) on "American Idol". I pronounce it AY-lah, and the strongest association I have with it is "Clan of the Cave Bear" which is too strong of one for me to ever use it. That and it just LOOKS trendy and made-up, even though it's not. :(

I pronounce Ayla as "EYE-lah". I think it is a beautiful name. It is both Hebrew and Turkisk. It could also be a phonetic spelling of Isla."But it’s all right now.
I learned my lesson well.

So you got to please yourself."

I like it ok, but it's very Clan of the Cave Bear to me.

I think the name Ayla has a very pretty and unique sound to it. With names like Ella, Ava, and Kayla being so popular Ayla is refreshing and different in a good way. I think it has a very nice flow to it and I pronounce it a-luh, like Kayla without the K. I think a lot of combos would work depending on the last name.Ayla Nicole
Ayla Christine
Ayla Corrine
Ayla Camille
Ayla Noelle
Ayla Danielle
Ayla Sophia

Ayla - (A-la) Isn't this one of the contestants that was voted off of American Idol on Thursday?"A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him or her."

OK, though nms, but I still can't help but giggle every time I see that name because it reminds me of a character in "Clan of the Cave Bear" which I have never read, but I've been told that the main character (called Ayla) is the most unrealistic character in literature because she's ridicilously perfect and sickenly romantisized Barbie-doll who gets everything she ever wants and masters everything she does. So, that's why it just won't grow on me, but that's just me. I would rpnounce this name EYE-la, though I'm not sure what the correct way is.
