I don't find Sidney "girly" at all. I actually don't like this name for a girl. I think it could be used for a boy these days, why not I say. Sidney James is a great combo. I think a classic masculine mn fits well with the fn Sidney. I also like Sidney John, Sidney Luke, Sidney Oscar, Sidney Paul, Sidney Eric and Sidney Aaron. I like Morgan and Sidney for brothers, that works well. Mackenzie and Madison are not my style and just scream "trendy" to me, sorry.I don't like Eartha at all. Ocean is alright. I like Ocean Elizabeth, Ocean Rebecca, Ocean Louisa, Ocean Tabitha and Ocean Marissa.

Sidney CrosbyFYI, one of the biggest names in the NHL now is Sidney Crosby from the Pittsburgh Penguins. He's a 19 year old Canadian going into his 2nd NHL season, and he's the next Wayne Gretzky/Mario Lemieux. So, Sidney is a name people will be hearing on a very macho hockey player, but a lot of hockey fans still rip on Sid for having a girl's name.

I think Sidney's fine on a boy. It's not a personal favorite of mine but neither is Sydney on a girl. My dislike is based on the names' asthetics not on real or imagined androgyny.Sidney James is okay. James doesn't do much for me as a fn or mn. It's blah.In theory I have no problem with the sibset Morgan, Madison, Mackenzie and Sidney but I think in the U.S. now with the huge popularity of Madison and Mackenzie people will be thrown by seeing those names on boys.In completely connect Eartha with Eartha Kitt. Whether that's good or bad depends on your opinion of her. Personally I don't care for the sound of the name. I also dislike similar sounding Martha and Bertha.Ocean is nmsaa. PRobably because I'm not a water person.

Sidney is perfectly fine for a boy. Sidney James sounds great. I also like Sidney Alexander.Morgan, Sidney, Mackenzie, and Madison is a decent sibset, but I think that there are too many names beginning with M, which could end up confusing people. I really like the name Mackenzie for a boy, but I would avoid using Madison since it's so common for girls. I prefer Addison. I have actually only met one Madison personally, and the person was male. He was probably in his 40s though. I've also met a male Morgan (he is about 20 years old now).I don't care for the sound of Eartha, but Ocean is a nice name for a girl.Ocean combos:
Ocean Claire
Ocean Clarice / Clarisse
Ocean Victoria - Does it sound too much like a cruise ship though?
Ocean Danae
Ocean Lorraine
Ocean Fay / Faye
Ocean Mariah
Ocean Mariah
Ocean Marie - Too boring?
Ocean Rebecca
Ocean Veronica

I don't think it is too feminine. It is just one of those names that girls seemed to take over. When I see Sidney I think of Sidney Poitier, which is definately a man.

Considering it is in my top 10 for boysI'd see 'yes' :) I see Sidney and Sydney as totally masculine, I can see no femininity about them at all. I love it and would use it.Sidney James - I like it but would never use it, it is tied to just one person (look him up, and you'll see why I find the name very unfeminine) and as a fan of the Carry On Films it would seem too fan-nish.I'd like to see brothers called Morgan, Sidney, Mackenzie and Madison.Eartha - will always remind me of the rhyming slang for 'sh*t', Eartha Kitt.

Gah! I love that sibset! Those are some of my favourite names! I also love Mackenzie and Madison on boys. What's so feminine about it? Uh, nothing. I agree with everything that you said.

Awesome! Sidney is in my top 20 :). I like the name Earth but felt it was too strange so I thought maybe Eartha would be nicer? lol.
I didn't know there was an actor named Sidney James. My second is Sydney Barrett, yup like the singer.

I think Sidney is usable, especially with a decidedly masculine middle name like James and the nickname Sid. The Sydney spelling is completely feminine to most people - I wouldn't even consider using that.Morgan is actually used far more freuqently for boys than Sidney, so I think that would be fine - but again, definitely use a masculine middle name to eliminate as much confusion as possible. Mackenzie might be okay on a boy. I would stay away from Madison - the name is so incredibly popular on girls it might be hard to picture a male Madison. These days, even a Madison James might be female!Eartha sounds like the name of a tofu-selling organic foods store. Or at least it sounds like the name of the daughter of somebody who shops at a tofu-selling organic foods store. I don't like the sound, either - it reminds me of hopelessly dated old woman names like Irma and Bertha.Ocean would probably work better in today's name climate, although it's not my style. I prefer Oceania - it sounds a little more "namey" than Ocean, which to me is just a word.

Sidney on a boy is pretty awesome, especially with the nn Sid. I have always liked Sidney Luke. I think your boy sibset is pushing it, though. It makes it seem like you're just being a contrarian. That said, I do like all those names for boys. And Eartha I adore, but it seems like Eartha Kitt "owns" the name. Not that I don't love Eartha Kitt. It would just seems like anyone using that name would be copying/directly paying homage to her.

I highly prefer Sidney for a boy. The name always seemed highly masculine to me, especially with nn Sid.
As for the sibset, it seems to be trying to hard to be a crusader for boys' names on boys. If you honestly love those names more than any other name, then sure use them together; otherwise, it just seems pretentious.

Well here in England Sidney is perfectly usable on a boy especially where I live. I have never met a girl called Sidney / Sydney and have known only old men or one boy who would be in his late teens now.
Personally I only like the name on boys.

Sidney James is very nice! You have my total blessing on that one. hehe
I see Sidney as an absolute unisex name, though... works fine for both girl and boy. Using a second name which clearly states the persons gender is advisable. - James does that.Madison is good for a brother. But again, needs to have a gender specific mn. Mackenzie is nms, and Morgan is too feminine imo. Also, with your combo of siblings, there are 3 M-names! Thats too much 'M' for my taste.Except Morgan, they are all totally unisex names imo, especially Sidney.Eartha is nmsaa!! sounds too much like earth (dirt). How about:Madison Dominic
Sydney James
Quentin Lucas
Colin Patrick

I've only known one Sidney personally, and that was a guy. Then there's Sidney Poitier, who's also male. I think it works on both sexes and I see it as usable. Sidney James sounds very nice, as it's good not to use a unisex mn, so there's no doubt about him being male or female. Morgan, Sidney, Mackenzie, and possibly Madison?
Morgan and Sidney are good as brothers. Madison is too feminine these days, imo. Mackenzie is just nms. Together, with the four of them they might as well be sisters...Eartha is nms Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I think that Sidney is a nice name for a boy, and I think it would be great to see the name used as such these days.I also like Morgan for a boy; and although they are not my style in general my gender preference for Mackenzie and Madison is as boy's names.

I think Sidney is perfectly fine and even preferrable on a boy. Sidney James is nice. While I like Morgan, Sidney, Mackenzie and Madison on boys, I think it would be a little too much unisex for one family. Morgan and Sidney would be fine, Sidney and Mackenzie would be fine, but anything more than that and I'd probably wonder if the parents were trying too hard to fight the good fight against boys names on girls ;)I don't like Eartha, sorry.

Sidney is a boys name and I only like it on a boy, but I dont know if I would name my child the same name as a family pet, especially if the child will be around the talk a lot...just confusingSidney James is really nice.Morgan is better as a mn I think, but I adore Mackenzie. Madison isnt my style but at least its on a boy. (Yes, I see all of these as boy names and only boy names)~~Kris~~

I like Sidney for a boy, even though it's not really my style. It's got some strangely elegant retro-chic appeal to it. I don't find it girly at all.Morgan is nice, but I prefer it as a mere surname. Mackenzie and Madsion are too trendy for my taste, even though either would be very refreshing on a boy.

YES! I really prefer Sidney on a boy. I also LOVE Morgan for a boy. Mackenzie is my daughter's name, but I think it is gorgeous on both, Madison I don't like for either. I like Jody and Lindsay for boys too though.

To be honest, I think it is better on a girl, I also only like Morgan and Madison on girls. Mackenzie is nice on a boy though**miss_smiley**
