Larisa / Larissa
I've been putting off this post for a long time, but it is the name of the day and I figured I should take it as a sign to finally do this. Anyway, I have wanted to use Larisa (or Larissa) with Lara as the nickname for about 12 years now. I've wanted to use various middle names over the years, but now I am not so sure which I like. These are all family names I would like to use:
Anna
Angela
Christina / Christine
Caroline / Carolina / Charlotte
Katherine / Catherine
Eugenia
Elizabeth
Grace
Maria
Margareta
Patricia
AntoniaSome background on these:
Anna would be honoring various Ann(e)s in my family tree including my mother's middle name (Ann) and my aunt Anna. Angela is after my great aunt. Christina and Christine honor my aunt and my great aunt. Caroline, Carolina, and Charlotte honor Charles. Katherine and Catherine honor my ggg-grandma (lol) and my great-grandma. Eugenia was used as my great-grandma's and grandma's middle names because a friend of my gg-grandparents named Eugene was killed in a car accident shortly before their wedding. It was supposed to be my aunt's middle name as well, but my grandparents decided against it. Elizabeth honors a bunch in my family tree including Elizas and Lizzies, etc. Grace honors a great aunt (and it could honor the Ann(e)s as well if you count meanings). Maria honors loads of Marys and a Maria. Margareta honors a Margareta and a few Margarets. Patricia honors my grandma and a great aunt. Antonia honors a couple of Antons.Other names I just love and would consider using:
Amalia
Anastasia (this was my favorite mn for Laris(s)a for a really long time)
Eva
Evelina
Natalia
Penelope
Renata
Victoria
VeraI've been leaning towards Larisa Angela lately, but part of me really wants to honor my mom's middle name. I reverted back to Larisa because it was the original form I loved and it is used in Slovene (to honor my heritage). Can you see why I put this post off for such a long time? lolSo, what do you think of Laris(s)a? Which spelling do you prefer and which middle name would you pick?

I like Larisa just fine. It's pretty and uncommon. I also like this original spelling, however, I pronounce it lah-REE-sa because I assume that a person who uses the original spelling would likely use the original pronunciation. If you're planning on lah-RISS-a, then spelling it Larissa might be less problematic. While I like Angela, I don't care for the way the vowels run together in the combo, LarisA Angela. WDYT of Larisa Catherine or Larisa Margaret? I also think Anastasia and Natalia would sound great as sibs to Larisa. WDYT of Anastasia Caroline, Anastasia Katherine, Natalia Christina, Natalia Charlotte, or Natalia Patricia? One final thing, since you have so many people to honor, be sure to use the names you love as fns and then work out the mns. You may even have to include two mns to fit them in! ;-)

Actually, Larissa was the original from Greek mythology and it is pronounced LAH-ree-sah. :-) I love both the LAH-ree-sah and lah-REE-sah (for Larisa) pronunciations, but not lah-RISS-ah, so that is another reason I am leaning towards Larisa. I love the combos that you suggested. I like Anastasia, Natalia, and Larisa as a sibset, but I would prefer to use Anastasia as a middle name if at all. I love the family names too and I would use certain ones as first names as well. I still have loads of time to think about this and no guy in my life, heh.

Larisa Charlotte Sounds really nice
or
Larissa Penelope (it sounds quite elegant to me)
Otherwise Larisa and Penelope would be great as sisters

I like Larisa Angela, Larisa Eva and Larisa Victoria. I like Larisa Angela the most.Larissa (with this spelling because I'm more inclined to pronounce the other one as La-rees-ah rather than La-riss-ah) is one of my favorite names. :)

Katherine / Catherine is the only one from the list I like with Larisa. Probably because I feel they would be too long, or disliking the double -a ending, or simply feeling it was a filler (Grace) or maybe just not liking the name at all.
