Ashley for a boy
I'd really like to name my son Ashley but everyone says its too feminine. I kind of like the idea of a softer, more feminine name for a boy. What's everyone here think? Any other more feminine names they've heard of for boys?

LOVE Ashley for a boy!I actually prefer Ashley on a boy. It seems aristocratic English and southern gentleman all rolled into one. I also like Courtney, Darcy, Whitney on boys. They were all once surnames and I kind of like that. It feels masculine to me. I know a woman whose son named his son Haley. And there is a famous precedent - Haley Joel Osmont or Osmond or whatever.

Ashley is wonderful on a boy!Go for it! I ADORE feminine names on boys. My all time favorite is Darcy, is sounds SOO masculine to me. I also really like Wynn (unisex), Joscelin, Misha, Sasha, Blair, Aubrey (my nephew), Kelly (my nephew), Addison (my nephew), Sidney (my nephew), and I could go on and on!I think Ashley Conrad, Ashley William, Ashley Patrick, Ashley Jacob, etc, something to balance it out!

Ashley seems like a very girly nameIt goes with all the Jessica's, Katelyn's, Emily's and all the other popular girl names. To me, it just seems way too feminine to be used on a boy - it'd be like a boy named Emily or something. What about unisex names? Taylor
Jamie
Reagan
Teagan
Peyton

No, go for it. Ashley was originally a masculine name. I still see it on boys today.
Even though I know more feminine Ashleys than masculine, I think it fits either gender well.

I would loooove to met a little boy named Ashley! I dated a boy in high school named Ashley. As far as I knew he never had any problems being named Ashley. Ashley is a boys name and the boys should take it back from the girls!I have Ashley on my long. I would use it in a heart beat too for a boy. Paris as well:)

I love it. One of my very good friends is a male Ashley. Ashley (this spelling) was pretty popular on boys here in the 80s and Ashleigh (this spelling) was popular on girls. I don't know a female who spells it Ashley (although I know there are plenty out there). I also really love the similar Asher :-)

Originally, Ashley was a masculine name. I personally think it would be quite refreshing to see it make a comeback as a masculine name. Honestly, female Ashleys are a dime a dozen nowadays.

I think of Ashley Wilkes when I hear this name. Not a very strong association, if you've ever read the book/seen the movie.I don't know...I guess it just sounds wimpy to me.

I looooooooooooooove Ashley on a boy. It bores me to tears on a girl, but I think it's so handsome for a boy. I do tend to like a lot of softer male names: Gabriel, Tristan, etc. I would worry about how it would be received in the 'real world' though. I bet most people don't know it was originally a boy name. Don't let that stop you from using it if you really love it though. If people can name their daughters Ryan and James you can name your son Ashley.I'd definitely pick a very strong, obviously masculine name for a middle name.

No, it's not too feminine! I love it on a boy, and have never liked it on a girl!

I love Ashley for a boy. I love "feminine" names on boys. My favorites are Courtney and Angel. You would need a more masculine middle name like Ashley Richard or Ashley Thomas or something.
