Miriam
What do you think of Miriam? Do you know anyone with the name? I'm wondering why it's still so uncommon. It's pretty and biblical. Opinions?

I knew one girl back in high school with the name. She went by the nick name Mim. :) I thought it was pretty too.

I think Miriam is quite pretty. I met one once at my dad's cousin's wedding. I wouldn't use it personally in favor of Maria (a family name), but I would still love to see it used more often. I think at least where I live it could seem a bit too old-fashioned for some people, but I would argue that forms of Mary never really go out of style. :-)

I like Miriam, especially with the nn Miri. I haven't known any although I did know an elderly lady from my church who was named Myra. I found out at her funeral that her name was really Miriam Rose which was lovely. I'd much rather be called Miriam than Myra!

I have known two or three Miriams. It's a pretty name. I like Mariam/Maryam too. I guess it's underused because Mary,Marie, Marian, etc have been so popular. Marian was pretty popular here especially in the 50s and 60s as was Marie.

I have a friend from church with this name. She is about 13 and we call her Mim. She has a brother named Samuel and a sister called Martha! I think its a lovely name :)

I prefer/love Mariam, but I really like Miriam as well. It definitely is an underappreciated name.I also like that it has so many nickname options...Mira, Miri, Mim, Mimi, Mia, Mamie, etc.I don't know anyone with the name.

It's beautiful. I know three Jewish and one non-Jewish Miriams.
In Israel it's often shortened to Miri, which is popular there at present.
I also love Mireille.

It's lovely. I guess it's uncommon because Mary and Maria have been more used.
