Love this name and it sounds awesome with our surname, but DH said no, as he has an aunt named Layla and thinks it's too similar! Not that we hardly see her! Lila Ruth is gorgeous, but I also love Lila Beatrix, Lila Catherine, Lila Guinevere and Lila Josephine.

It's pretty. From those you have listed, I like Lila Josephine, Lila Magdalene, and Lila Victoria best.

I like Lila a lot too. How are you pronouncing it? I prefer LEE-la but realize it doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of being pronounced like that where I live. ;-)I like:Lila Catherine
Lila Margaret
Lila Penelope
Lila Susannah
Lila Victoria

Its funny how perceptions and tastes differ so much. I don't know which ghastly names you are referring to in particular (I have been kind of absent here the past few days) but I personally find Lila horrifically frumpy sounding. It sounds whiney and cheap to me. I far prefer the slightly similar Lily or Delilah although I would rather see Lillian than all three of them.

I think the exact opposite. Delilah and Lily sound so tawdry to mine ear, and Lillian frumpy.

Lila's nice, but feels a bit nicknamey to me. I prefer Layla.

Lila is definitely gorgeous, and I like it because it makes me think of the color purple. I'll bet it's due to explode in popularity here soon. From your combos, I like:Lila Catherine - Though Catherine's a bit dull as a mn.
Lila Frances - I absolutely love this.
Lila Guinevere - What is it about Guinevere that it's become popular on this board all of a sudden? I mean, I like it too but it's weird.
Lila Josephine
Lila Magdalene
Lila Penelope - Adorable.
Lila Ruth - Even though I don't much care for Ruth I think it makes for a solid mn.
Lila Therese - Sophisticated.
Lila Victoria - Talk about a posh combo.

I like Lila, but I love Delilah ( I know, most people don't). Lila Josephine is very sweet!

I really like Lila. I know it's gaining popularity, and rightfully so because it's beautiful. It also has that sound and elegant feel to it that makes it fit right in with Ella, Ava, Olivia, Sophia, Lily, etc.Lila Beatrix, Lila Catherine, Lila Guinevere, and Lila Winifred are my favorites from your list. Lila Ruth is very adorable too.

I like Lila a lot but - and I think I've said this before - I'm not a fan of Ruth, sorry. I prefer Lila Catherine, Lila Josephine and Lila Winifred. I know many people do not like Winifred but I have a soft spot for it.

My Granny's name was Jean Elizabeth but she always got called Lila. It's a really lovely name and reminds me of her, If I was to use it I'd spell it Lyla like the in the Oasis song.
