Pandora?
How do you feel about Pandora? I know, it's very strongly tied to Pandora's Box, but then again, until lots of people used Eve, Eve was the woman who ruined Paradise. So, love it or hate it? If you like it, what are your middle name suggestions?

I personally love the name. And Pandora's Box isn't altogether a negative story. She also released hope onto the world. Anyway, since it is regarded negatively, I would use it only as a pet's name, or middle name.

There's a big difference between Pandora and Eve, in my opinion. I love Eve, whereas I do not find Pandora attractive at all. I don't think I can recall an example of Pandora being used other than its literary context, which would help shape my opinion. I dislike it.

I love Pandora. Almost any name from mythology starts out with a plus in my book. There aren't many P names for girls, so it also has a certain "look at me" factor. It's easy to spell and pronounce. Nns Dora, Dorie, Andi, Annie (and even Panda) are cute.I know the "Pandora's Box" thing could put some off. Personally, it adds to the fun of the name. It helps keep it edgy. Pandora Jane is my stock combo for it. I know Jane is a bit of a filler. But it gives it a British, cool-as-ice feeling that I like. :-D

Oh you, I always know you have some good comments and suggestions to make! Thanks for helping spread the Pandora love. I do agree that Pandora Jane sounds icy-sort of a "Don't f**k with me" vibe I'm picking up on.

I like it, and I don't think the myth is a problem. You could always call her Dora, Dory, or Pan. Pan would be a cool NN for a girl.

I liked Pandora more before it started to feel like a brand name. I now think of Pandora Radio and Pandora Jewelry as easily as I think of the mythical figure and her famous box. It's like all the shiny has worn off.

I actually think of Bewitched. The grandmother (Samantha's mother) is Endora and her cousin Serena is credited as Pandora. But then again I have alot of "associations" with Bewitched.

That's interesting! I never knew that, but then again, I've never watched Bewitched.

Might be my favorite name, possibly? I love Pandora's box, though; the tie would be deliberate. I like Pan and Panda and Dora and the whole thing.Haven't really made combos past like Pandora Rose and stuff. The issue is that it is so self-sufficient that combos are a challenge. I'm interested to see if any suggestions satisfy me.

I don't want to open the Box.It's not good in my opinion to know that Pandora will always be associated with boxes.

I generally love "dora" names, but I don't see ever warming to this one. Even putting the obvious "Box" association aside (and also John Denver's "The Box", which I remember hearing as a child, and which doesn't mention Pandora specifically but has always been linked in my mind) the name itself also makes me think of bread. I see "bread" "dora", loaf pans and also the Spanish word for bread.

I actually like it. I knew one and she was called Panda a lot. I didn't really like that :P I would never use it. The 'unleashing all the evil spirits' thing is just too much even though I don't think it's true or anything. Yeah but Eve still has a goody goody image. Don't ask me why, I have no idea, but no one thinks 'evil' when they hear Eve.I'd like to see it on someone else and I like saying it.Pandora Elise
Pandora Isabelle
Pandora Diane
Pandora AliceI like to pair it with something that ends with the letter E for some reason.
