I'm not seeing it. It's so self-conscious and seems to convey "old money" though I don't know how.

When I was a child (say around 7 or 8) I was convinced that Laurence was a girls name. Probably because it's similar to my sister's name Laura. However, now I don't see it as a female name at all. There was a teacher at school called Mr Laurence who was always joked about (he was rather large), so not only do I regard it as masculine, it doesn't feel usable to me either.

I love it in French on girls - http://www.forvo.com/word/laurence/#fr . I know two of them, one French and one Swiss, and it sounds very elegant and pretty to me. But I think the English version is still too definitely male to work. Here it would just get confused with Florence, which is fairly popular.

Laurence is not uncommon for a girl where I live, but I never liked it. It's considered very highbrow and snobby here.

Sounds more masculine to me than feminine, but it's one of those names that seems fairly unisex. So yeah I think it works for a girl even if I feel that it works better for a boy.

I think it's nice in theory and looks nice written down, but I don't think it would work where I'm from (too masculine), and it doesn't sound particularly great in my accent.

It's fine. Seems unisex-y... only a tiny bit like Emerson and Aubrey, more like Patrice or Christian. It's far nicer than Florence!

Laurence sounds unisex-y but noooo. This is one name I don't want overtaken by the girls as I think it would be if it fell into use.

I don't really like Laurence on a boy, so it definitely doesn't fly with me as a girl's name, personally. I do think it's workable, though; it'd be super neat to meet a girl who's middle name is Laurence, probably honoring or something. Ooh, I'd actually really like that. I do think it sounds sophisticated in the middle spot. Amelia Laurence? Elizabeth Laurence? Octavia Laurence? Yes, it would make a regal middle name!

For a first name, I'd prefer Laurentia.

I think it works. I picture a prep school girl who plays lacrosse.

Unless you live in a French-speaking country, it wouldn't work. I don't think it's particularly feminine. I don't even like the Portuguese form Lourença.
