A few name questions :P
Hey, I would like some assistance. I'm creating a list of my top names per letter and I'm currently stuck in a few places. Perhaps this will help?1: Your favorite feminine names starting with the letter "D"2: Honest opinions on Dalia, Delia, Delora, Delilah and Dakota3: Josephine or Jodie (I go back and forth;loving Josephine one moment than prefering Jodie the next and then changing my mind because the name reminds me too much of "Judy" which I just despise. Reminds me too much of Judge Judy who I can't stand4: Ridge or Ross (I am so indecisive on this)5: Roslyn or Roslin (which spelling?)6: Favorite feminine names starting with the letter "X" (a tough letter indeed)Thanks to all who can help!
UPDATE!
I have thought long and hard about this and have decidedJosephine "Josie" (I still like Jodie as well)
Ridge (Has more personal meaning to me and the fact that many dislike the name is not a problem with me. In fact, I expect it. The first time I came across "Ross" it took me a while to developed a liking to it. But the first time I came across "Ridge" It was "love at first sight" essentially (:
Roslyn. (Normally I hate the Y spellings on most names but "Roslin" just doesn't look as good. Not as feminine and almost appearing "incomplete"All I need now are D and X names :P

1: Your favorite feminine names starting with the letter "D"
Delaney
Demetria or Demitra
Dione
Drea
Deirdre is interesting. Deborah has a strong namesake in the judge and prophetess who lead Israel, but I can't get past the nick name Debbie.
2: Honest opinions on Dalia, Delia, Delora, Delilah and Dakota
Dalia- I used to unreasonably dislike this name but am building tolerance for it. It does remind me of the Black Dahlia, a murder victim in an almost Jack the Ripper like case.
Delia- Too sickly sweet, but an excellent name for an antagonist in a novel.
Delora- okay
Delilah- The name of a prostitute who sold her lover for money. It means weak or languishing, traits most parents wouldn't want their daughter to have.
Dakota- Cute and spirited sounding, and the meaning "allies, friends" is great. 3: Josephine or Jodie (I go back and forth;loving Josephine one moment than prefering Jodie the next and then changing my mind because the name reminds me too much of "Judy" which I just despise. Reminds me too much of Judge Judy who I can't stand
Josephine and Jodie are both nice. Jodie brings to mind Jodie Foster, and Josephine reminds me of Jo from "Little Women." Of the two, I prefer Josephine since it is traditional and dignified yet can still be shortened to spunky Josie. 6: Favorite feminine names starting with the letter "X" (a tough letter indeed)
Xanthe and Xena

1: Your favorite feminine names starting with the letter "D"
Dahlia, Daphne, Devin, Diana, Diantha, Dinah2: Honest opinions on Dalia, Delia, Delora, Delilah and Dakota
Dalia- It's okay. I really prefer the Dahlia spelling- I think it looks much more lush and beautiful.
Delia- It reminds me too much of the store from the 90s. Otherwise okay.
Delora- I'm not really a fan of this. It sounds similar to Dolores, and thus dated.
Delilah- I think this is pretty, springy, and fresh.
Dakota- One of my least favorite names. It's dated to the 90s, trendy, and just doesn't have a sound I care for.3: Josephine or Jodie (I go back and forth;loving Josephine one moment than prefering Jodie the next and then changing my mind because the name reminds me too much of "Judy" which I just despise. Reminds me too much of Judge Judy who I can't stand
I prefer Josephine. Jodie sounds like a nickname.4: Ridge or Ross (I am so indecisive on this)
I prefer Ross. Ridge reminds me of a character on my mother's soap opera, so I can never take it seriously.5: Roslyn or Roslin (which spelling?)
I prefer Roslyn, one of the few times I like a Y better than an I!6: Favorite feminine names starting with the letter "X" (a tough letter indeed)
Xavia, Xenia, Xiomara, Xylia. I'm not a fan of X names, truth be told.

1. Diana and Daphne are the only two female D names I like. I also have Dagny on my list but I'm not 100% sure if I really like it.2. Dalia- it's ok but I wouldn't personally use it. Delia- I don't like it. Delora- I want to like it but I just can't. Delilah- is cute for someone else, not me though. Dakota- I really dislike this name. 3. Josephine is way better than Jodie or Judy. Josie is cute.4. I prefer Ross to Ridge. 5. Roslyn, definitely.6. Xena is about the only X name I like. Xanthe isn't too bad.

For D, I like Dakota, Deirdre, and Desiree, to name a few. For X, I really like the name Xena or Xenia. (especially since Xenia is a city in my home state)

Dalia, Delilah and Delia, as well as Daisy, Delphine, Demeleza and Dierdre.
X : Xanthe all I can come up with.
Not a fan of Delora and Dakota
I much prefer Josephine to Jodie.
I like Ridge and Roslyn

X has got to be Xanthe. Avoid Xanthippe like the plague!Dalia, Delia, Delora, Delilah and Dakota:
Dalia is pleasantly exotic but would look odd on a non-Israeli.
Delia looks better than it sounds. That long eee just whines.
Delora? Never heard of it, and don't find it attractive.
Delilah is shackled to the naughty biblical lady and to the Tom Jones song, so no.
Dakota is fine in the context of geography and aircraft. Otherwise, not.D names I like? Dinah, but not Diana. Deborah, but not Debra or Debbie. Damaris. Dillian (GP). Dorothea and Dorothy, but not Dolly or Dottie. Daisy, nicest of the flower names.

Daphne, Delphine/Delphina/Delphia, Dahlia, Delia, Daisy, Dinah
Dalia - I prefer it with an H after the first A but I think it's beautiful
Delia - adorable but would also age well. I prefer Celia but Delia is also gorgeous
Delora - I really don't like the sound :S especially because it's so close to Dora, which I hate.
Delilah - nice sound but terrible association. I think Lila on its own is better.
Dakota - masculine to me.Xenia& I agree with all of your updates :)

1) My favorite d names:Danae
Darya
Delia
Della
Delora
Desta2) Opinions on......Dalia: I like the spelling, but it sounds somehow dark/evil
...Delia: Like it! Graceful and florid. Prefer DEEL-ye
...Delora: reminds me of an elderly opera singer or so, so mabye a little too majestic, but OK
...Delilah: too cheesy/sweet and over-used
...Dakota: lame3) Josephine or Jodie?Josephine for sure! Jodie sounds old-fashioned and reminds me of Jodie Foster. Josephine is classy and doesn't appear to often.4) Ridge or Ross?I don't like any of those. But Ridge doesn't even sound like a person's name to me!5) Roslyn or Roslin?Prefer the Rosyln spelling, although I don't like them both. Roslin looks made up and doesn't remind me much of the beautiful rose it once emerged from6) My favorites with the letter X:Xandra
Xavia
Xanthia

1: Your favorite feminine names starting with the letter "D"
Daisy
Dahlia
Dalia
Daphne
Dorothea
Dorothy 2: Honest opinions on Dalia, Delia, Delora, Delilah and Dakota
Well, Dalia is on my list above so obviously I'm quite fond of it. I think it's pretty, uncommon but still recognizable. Delia isn't one of my favourites, but I feel similarly about it to Dalia. Delora, I've never heard this before it reminds me of Delorean's and Delores, I think it sounds too much like an anti-depressant. I consider Delilah unusable because of the Biblical association, even as an Atheist. Dakota is appropriative. I hate it.3: Josephine or Jodie (I go back and forth;loving Josephine one moment than prefering Jodie the next and then changing my mind because the name reminds me too much of "Judy" which I just despise. Reminds me too much of Judge Judy who I can't standJosephine. Josephine is classic and ageless, Jodie seems very dated to the 60's to me, and too much like a nickname. You could always use Jodie as a nickname for Josephine. 4: Ridge or Ross (I am so indecisive on this)
Ross. Ridge is not a name. 5: Roslyn or Roslin (which spelling?)
Roslyn, although both are pretty weird looking. 6: Favorite feminine names starting with the letter "X" (a tough letter indeed)
Xanthe
Xenia
Xena
Xiomara

1: Your favorite feminine names starting with the letter "D"Delia is the only one on my list. But I like Dahlia too.2: Honest opinions on Dalia, Delia, Delora, Delilah and DakotaDalia: I like it but prefer the spelling Dahlia that way people are more likely to pronounce it correctly if they are familiar with the flower.
Delia: love
Delora: I don't like the LOR sound.
Delilah: I can sort of see the appeal but I would prefer Lila.
Dakota: too gender neutral and not a serious name to me3: Josephine or Jodie (I go back and forth;loving Josephine one moment than prefering Jodie the next and then changing my mind because the name reminds me too much of "Judy" which I just despise. Reminds me too much of Judge Judy who I can't stand
-I prefer Jody for a boy. Josephine, however, I can get behind. The nn Josie is cute.4: Ridge or Ross (I am so indecisive on this)
-I love Ross for a boy! So under appreciated. Ridge is not a real name to me.5: Roslyn or Roslin (which spelling?)
-I looooove Roslyn.6: Favorite feminine names starting with the letter "X" (a tough letter indeed)
-Xanthe and Xiomara are the only ones I like.

-Dalia - Prefer Dahlia
-Delia - Pretty but meh
-Delora - Not my thing
-Delilah - Pretty and flowery, very nice
-Dakota - Ugh. I hate seeing this used as a name. It's a Native American tribe, I think using it seems really disrespectful.3: Josephine or Jodie (I go back and forth;loving Josephine one moment than prefering Jodie the next and then changing my mind because the name reminds me too much of "Judy" which I just despise. Reminds me too much of Judge Judy who I can't stand

I have a list of favourite names for each letter of the alphabet, away from btn, that is.1: Your favorite feminine names starting with the letter "D"Daisy
Daphne
Dejana
Delfina
Delilah
Demelza
Demetria
Dieuwke
Dorothy
Dulcie2: Honest opinions on Dalia, Delia, Delora, Delilah and Dakota Dalia and Delia are both quite pretty, in a simple and endearing way. They don't make me pause for thought seeing them on a name site, but I'd probably stop and pay attention if I met a Dalia or a Delia in real life.
I'm not sure how I feel about Delora. I think I prefer it to Dolores, but I've never really thought about it before. It feels very country, in the nicest way possible. It looks pretty.
I like Delilah, as you can see above :)
Dakota feels like a dude name. 3: Josephine or Jodie (I go back and forth;loving Josephine one moment than prefering Jodie the next and then changing my mind because the name reminds me too much of "Judy" which I just despise. Reminds me too much of Judge Judy who I can't stand)I cannot express how unappealing Jodie is to me. It's so 90s and bland. Sorry. You could have Josephine "Jodie" if you really couldn't decide, though, but I think Jodie would detract from the beauty of Josephine.

1: Your favorite feminine names starting with the letter "D"
-DAGMAR. I know it's not very usable but I love it so much. Daria & Dahlia. Destiny's pretty cool. Delilah. Donna.2: Honest opinions on Dalia, Delia, Delora, Delilah and Dakota
-Dalia is great, I love it. Delia isn't a favorite, but it's cute. I'd nickname her Della. Delora I kinda hate. Sorry. Delilah is awesome. I don't really like Dakota. It just reminds me of Dakota Fanning.3: Josephine or Jodie
-I love Josephine. It's so timeless and beautiful. Jodie, however, I think is awful. However, it's your list, your opinions matter more than mine.4: Ridge or Ross
-Ride is okay, but kinda unusable. Ross is nice, but now all I think about is the Friends character.5: Roslyn or Roslin
-I prefer Roslin. Though in general I prefer Rosalind to both of these.6: Favorite feminine names starting with the letter "X" (a tough letter indeed)
-Xanthe. Xenia. Xandra.

1. Dulcinea, Darcy/Darcie, Darlene, Doris, Dana, Darian, Desdemona, Dahlia, Delilah
2. Dalia: Stick an 'h' on the end, and we're good.
Delia: Nice, kind of depressing because of the Johnny Cash song.
Delora: Eh. Don't like the sound of it.
Delilah: Hey, there, Delilah...I really like it. It's romantic and pretty.
Dakota: Not my thing. Sugary and fluffy, like cotton candy. Don't care for it.3. Why not Josephine, NN Jodie?4. Ross. Ridge sounds stupid.5. Roslyn looks more like a first name.6. No.

Hmm, I never thought of Jodie for a nickname for Josephine but I suppose it COULD work. I'm personally more partial to "Josie" as a NN. Its more clearer to understand. People won't question how you get one name from the other. I get the Jo part but that's about it \:
I don't hate "Delilah" I never have. I want to love it but something's holding me back from obsessing over it. Perhaps it's the fact that when I was really young, I used to own a cat named this and for the longest time I always associated the name to a cat, in which I'm aware is really weird. The name also places to mind a certain personality and lifestyle which isn't a bad association at all. I think "Delilahs been a name that I've always been neutral on; I don't love it but I also don't have any beef with it as well. I think i'm prefering Dakota more which isn't my usual taste. I definitely see it as an unisex name;fitting for a tomboy type. I do like "Darlene" but I'm more partial to "Marlene nn Marley" for no particular reason. I don't think D is my letter when it comes to girl names \: Dalia, Delia and Delora are on my list but I don't LOVE them. I guess I'm just searching for others that I may prefer more
Thanks for your response
