Jenna Bush named her daughter...
...Poppy Louise.
Her big sister is named Mila, and Poppy is in honor of Jenna's grandfather, George. It was his nickname growing up.
I don't like it.

It's ok. Not great, not terrible either.
Hate it.
Poppy is terrible. I know it's a popular name in the UK but I've never understood why. It sounds childish and tacky.
Louise is a prefectly fine middle name but I'm not a fan.

I look at Poppy and see "poopy," which I guess makes me about twelve years old. :-P
To me it is forgettable but benign. It seems like an incredibly straight-laced person's idea of being whimsical, which I think is kind of cute. Like how my conservative aunt thinks she's going wild when she orders a beer with dinner. Awww.

It's nice enough but feels sorta twee. I dunno I also keep hearing it in a cockney accent.
I would personally never pick it for my child but it's cute for someone else. It's better than Mila at least.

I completely agree.
Poopy!
Not a fan, but not exactly unacceptable either.
She's using names she likes the while stating she's naming her kids after people. Mila is a stretch as a NN.
I find Poppy dumb and babyish. It's what we called our daughter before she was born (she was the size of a poppy seed at her first ultrasound). I remember referring to her as Poppy on FB and having someone call and ask my mother if we were really going to name her Poppy. My mom was horrified at the thought!

If she wanted to honor her grandfather, why not use a name like Georgia or Georgette? While I love lesser-used flower and nature names, I just don't care for Poppy. It also sounds like what someone in the Thirties or Forties might've called his or her father, since Pop was such a common term of address for one's father in that era.
Well, I have met a grown woman named Peaches who worked as some sort of social worker, so it's possible. Also, Cupcake Brown has a career.
LOL. Before I read the body of your message, I was hoping that I would hate the name because I hate the Bushes. But I didn't think it could possibly be as bad as this! Poppy "in honor of Jenna's grandfather, George. It was his nickname growing up." LMAO.
It particularly makes me laugh because Poppy was what everyone called my great-grandfather and nobody in my family was idiot enough to think that made it okay to name one of our baby girls.
Yeah, it's a regular name in the UK but that doesn't change the fact that it's ugly and ridiculous.
And I hate Louise.

My guess is that it was just baby talk that stuck to him.
Which makes Jenna's naming her daughter that way doubly dumb; it would be the same as naming her Boo-Boo or Peanut or Munchkin. The only thing different is that Poppy is considered an actual name.

It's like the name of an average English kid. I don't like it.
It like, weirds me out. I like Poppy, but in this case she basically just named her daughter Grandpa.
Not really my cup of tea... too cutesy and childish and nickname-like.
Naming your daughter after a relative's nick name is kind of weird, too!
However, I like it together with Louise and Mila and Poppy match, too... somehow. I like Mila.
I would have suggested instead:
Amelie Louise
Cecily Louise
Rosa Louise
Thea Louise

I like Louise, too. I wish people would use it more as a first name.
Good God. These aristocrats are so obsessed with commemorating themselves. Mila's real name is Margaret Laura, after her grandmothers. Which is all well and good except Mila makes very little sense as a nn. Marla would make more sense.
I happen to know that George HW Bush was also called, as a child, Fatty McGee McGaw, so at least Jenna didn't go for that.

Bleah
The whole shining sea of George related names, and she goes with Poppy. I hate it.
