Madelyn
Wdyto the name Madelyn (pron. Mad-uh-lynn) it's my name, just want to see what ppl think of it. You could also put your name in the subject line so maybe we could give opinions as well on your name.YOU ARE VALIDAnd these children that you spit on,
As they try to change their worlds,
Are immune to your consultations,
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through.

Emilie MeredithI adore my name so much. It fits me so well! I do like the name Madeline (pronounced Mad-e-line, as in the famous children's books) over Madelyn.

StephanieMadelyn is cute, as are Madeline and Madeleine! I can see it on any age.

CynthiaI like Madelyn. When I was small, I had a family-friend-aunt named that who I thought was dignified and had wonderful jewelry that she let me and my sister play with. I prefer the spelling Madeleine, probably because of Madeleine L'Engle.

Cynthia is too dated for my tastes, sorry. I mean, it has a pretty sound, but I just like my names more current.

RebeccaI like Madelyn. When I was little there was an animated tv program called Madeleine. It was set in a very small girls school in France and was run by a nun. I loved watching all the girls adventures.

Love Rebecca but much prefer the spelling Rebekah.

Oh, you mean the Madeline series! I adored it as a kid!Rebecca is one of those names that you like but wouldn't use on someone younger than, say, 30. I've used it for the main character in an old fanfic. (well, it's not that old, but it was on my old computer and I can't get it back)

I've always liked Rebecca; it was one of my top two names as a kid, along with Jessica. The Rebeccas I knew then usually went by Becky, but the ones I know as an adult go by Becca, which I like better.

CloeI like Madelyn. I personally prefer Madeline, but Madelyn is very nice too. It sounds a bit more modern, in a way.(P.S. Cloe isn’t my real name, but it’s pretty close to it and I don’t really wanna reveal my actual name. I have a short Greek name, and Cloe is also a short Greek name, so it’s close enough.)

I prefer the spelling Chloe :) I like it.

Cloe is a good name; it has the fun of a name ending with -ee but more dignity. I prefer the Chloe spelling. My dog's littermate, who lives up the street, is named Chloe, so I associate it with my fondness for her.

I don't mind the sound of Cloe, but it looks a bit like a typo of Cleo or Close.

I think Cloe is very gentle and elegant. I prefer it spelled Khloë though.

Thanks! The Greek spelling of Chloe is technically “Cloe”, and also the Italian variant. I guess I could see how it looks like Cleo, though.

AraceliAraceli's not actually my name, but I got to pretend it was during high school Spanish (and I used Latin American Spanish pronunciation).
My actual names have been discussed to death on BtN already.I don't like Madelyn, but I don't hate it. I guess it suffers (or benefits, depending how you look at it) from association with Madison and all the trendy *lyn names.

I love Araceli, it's probably my favorite Spanish name. I'd love to know what the different pronunciations are. The only Araceli I know was in a documentary about climbing Mt. Everest, and when I hear the name I see her climbing up a sheer rock above the ocean.

I adore the sound and meaning of Araceli, it's such a beautiful name!

I've never heard it before! It's not really my style, but it's okay.

MariaI don't like it much, regardless of spelling. Madeline pronounced mad-uh-line is very pretty in my opinion, but I dislike the "lin" ending.
vote up1
Maria is a pretty name, even though it's been so popular over the ages that I tend to forget it's there. There was a Maria on my dormitory floor when I was in college, and we often greeted her with the song from West Side Story.

I think Maria is a good, classic name. I have many good associations with it too.

ClariceI like it! I like Madeline too, but they're definitely distinct, separate names to me. Madelyn sounds softer than Madeline to me. Not in a shy/weak way, but in a solid, reserved way, it that makes sense. It's less peppy, but more dignified, maybe? It's hard to quantify that initial reaction to a name! It flows nicely with itself - I like how it starts with an emphasized syllable and gradually lessens the emphasis as the name goes on, it's very musical. It's a good name and I like it.

I'm not that fond of Clarice; I tend not to like Cl-names. I'm afraid my only association with Clarice is Silence of the Lambs.

Is Clarice pronounced CLA-ris or cla-REES? I like the former, but not the latter.

Clarice is nice, sounds strong.

Clarice is so pretty! It actually was my grandma's name. Beautiful name!

Zhara Adelina is my name.Madelyn is nice, but common in my opinion. Also, I, unlike most, dislike the nickname Maddie (sorry!). Though it is more common on preschoolers/kindergartners where I live. In one class I've subbed at, there was a Madelyn, a Madalin, and a Maddie! I think I like Adelyn more.In regards to my own name, I always disliked how unpopular it was. (Zhara still only stands as a submitted name here, which is saying a lot!) My brother's name was uncommon, but a bit more common where I live than my name, and people *usually* knew how to pronounce it. No one ever knows how to pronounce my name at first glance. (BTW, it is pronounced just like Zara, in my case)

Wow, what a cool name! Zhara sounds daring and mysterious.

Zhara Adelina is beautiful! I love both names, and they flow together nicely.

Zhara is very beautiful. Fierce.
